Rosie, yes, we had to shed our jackets and woollies as soon as we returned home. Warm inside the house. Nights are beginning to draw in now, such a shame this summer seems to have come and gone quickly. @rowlandscastle444, how is the move coming along and how are you finding the clearing out of your stuff.....or not, as the case may be.? @star gaze lily and @Yviestevie, 👋👋 hope you are both okay.
Hi @Songbird-2 The move? Well, we get the survey done at the end of this week, then we are on holiday for a week. Seeing family, we hope. But one sister is now in Cornwall. Another sister can give us half a day. My parents can see us for a day or two, if they are well enough.
We have offloaded a few items - but not much. My wife is better at this than I am. I've still to tackle the shed, although the garage is done.
My job is to bottle more stewed apple tomorrow, while my wife is out. 😁
Good evening .I haven’t read back I am half asleep after a busy day . I hope everyone is ok .It’s still very hot here even though it’s rained all day. I am still researching roses . See you tomorrow.
Evening all. Another very warm day but with a touch ofvery high cloud to just take the edge off the power of the sun. May be a bit cloudier tomorrow and possibly a little rain on Thurs (hope Ante gets some) but temps forecast to continue in high twenties into at least the start of next week so still very much beach / pool / swim sort of weather.
The midges have been ferocious tonight which made eating dinner something of an ordeal. They have been bad since we arrived but tonight was especially bad. Totted up that so far I've had over 70 bites. The itchiest ones (ie those that are driving me crazy ) are on my feet and toes. The nastiest are 3 on my face. One in particular is just under my eye and this morning my eye was swollen nearly shut and I looked like I'd gone 5 rounds with Joe Bugner. Fortunately cold compresses and anti-histamines (been double dosing on those for the last week) have reduced much of the swelling - but it's still a mess.
Glad to hear things have cooled down at home. Spoke to my friend this pm and she said we'd had a little rain today which I'm sure the garden needed.
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
@rowlandscastle444, moving ....rather, the actual getting down to sorting your belongings out and all the hard decisions to be made and the endless waiting for hints to start moving.......takes time doesn't it? You'll get here....meanwhile, I hope you enjoy your holiday next week and have a nice time catching up with family. Good luck with the apples. @Topbird, eek, you've been got now😬 I found the calamine lotion a blessing with the itching but the bites are nasty when they're on the face, they hurt and itch and drive you mad. Hope they clear up soon......pity you haven't got a hat with a net over it.....that would keep the blooming mozzies away.
I'm back in Norfolk with OH. Plane was late, probably because of thunderstorms, drove through one in the way to Bergerac airport. Tipping rain on the A11 in England. Back here at 8.30pm. Had a stir fry chicken and Prosecco, followed by strawberries and cream.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Morning all. Just finished a welcome cup of tea. Busy you’ll be glad to rest after your journey. A cooler night. Having a snuggle and play with my fluffy friend, Rosie
Good morning Rosie and all dropping by later. Gosh I was shattered last night but did actually sleep not too badly. I've no idea what time my car is being picked up today so I'll just have to hang around - I hate doing that!
@rowlandscastle444 moving home with all that is involved is a total nightmare. We all heard about Hazel's move as she was reporting back snippets to us when she had the time. I think once it all happens and the dust settles, the stresses are soon forgotten with the excitement of making the home your own with all the personal touches. Use your holiday as a brief rest and deep intake of breath before you have to face the next onslaught.
@Topbird I was sorry to hear that you had become a midge smörgåsbord with the resulting swellings and itchy distractions. Keep taking the tablets. Have you any of that anti pest lotion?
Welcome back to Norfolk Busy. I wonder how long it will be before you are in your garden sorting things out!
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
Morning LB hope you soon get your car back. Topbird hope the bites soon heal and you’ll be soon midge-free. No rain as yet, rain coat on just in case. Rosie
