Rosie, I'll join you with cup of tea. Hope you like new scarf.
T' Bird, I'm glad you still enjoying at your vacation. Lovely photo. Now you see with which weather I must deal. Forecast promised me yesterday 80% for rain, and I only got high wind.
I came home at 1am from airport. My sister is back to Germany, and now is adoption time on my usual routine. Today first school then cottage. There is still a lot of work.
Good morning Rosie, Ante and all joining in later.
T'Bird, a stunning picture. Is that a spit of land jutting into the water or a little island? I was fascinated to see the 5 'things' sticking up. At first swift glance I thought they were trees (should have gone to Spooksavers!) so please tell me what they are - dying of curiosity here! Actually, with speaking about triffids yesterday!!!!!!
Rosie, it has been raining here too but no fog as was mentioned on the forecast.
Ante, that sure was a late evening after taking your sister to the airport. Hope you manage to stay awake today!
Got some good news last night as I heard that Jack has come home from hospital. I will catch up this morning before I go and visit my Canasta friend at lunch time. Tree surgeon rang whilst I was at Bestie's - wanted to come round and weigh up my job. We re-arranged for Saturday morning.
Some extremely grim news on TV about the plight of the Libyan people. My heart goes out to them.
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
LB - the 'spit of land' is actually a mini pier with swimming ladders along it to get into the sea.
The 5 sticky up things are cairns - but not quite the sort we get ontop of hills. More ornamental stone stacks. This is a very, very rocky and stony coast line and lots of large flat stones strewn around.
Ante - I can really empathise with the weather situation. We regularly get forecasts showing 70 - 80% chance of rain and all get is cloud with dark clouds passing to the north and south. One of my forum friends in south Scotland was reflecting on the exceptionally dry summer they had last year. Then she saw some weather data and realised they still had more rain in one week than I had in 6 months....ย
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
I ran out of garden twine yesterday so we went to the local GC, Bressingham. I bought a pair of shears, 12 cyclamen, a pair of gardeing gloves and 2 sacks of compost. Forgot the twine!
A friend dropped in yesterday with a birthday card, my birthday on Saturday, so I asked them to dinner last night. I'd bought a fillet mignon of pork which was too big for the 2 of us. I made onion, tomato, mushroom and basil tartlets, stuffed fillet of pork cooked in cider with celery, runner beans and potatoes and our friends supplied a strawberry cheesecake.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Bit Marti overnight here. Forecast for today looks like a chance for dithering between multiple outdoor tasks will be an option.
The blackberry jam looks the part but not had a tasting yet.ย
I'm donating blood this evening. Hope it goes better than last time when I ended up having a 'disagreement' with one of the staff. In fact, the experience hasn't been particularly satisfactory at the majority of appointments over the last few years.
Good ย morning everyone .TBird beautiful pic ย .Your travel tales are lovely to read .Enjoy the rest of your holiday . Busy your dinner sounds delicious .Ante you must be tired after your late night taking your sister to the airport . Big Lad I tried to donate my blood but of course they wouldnโt take it because of my medication .LB glad to read that Jack is home .
I collected nearly all the tomatoes off the plants yesterday (still a few on which should finish ripening). With the ones I picked I decided to make tomato sauce for pasta rather than chutney this year, as we still have a lot of chutney from last year. There were enough tomatoes to make 3 batches of sauce to serve two, so Iโve popped the sauce in the freezer and will just take out a batch as itโs needed. I hope it will be ok, as Iโve not made it before with fresh tomatoes. It looks and smells ok, though.
Ah, @Busy-Lizzie, thatโs the kind of trick I do ๐. Never mind, another trip to the GC, but put the twine on the top of your list๐๐. Happy birthday for tomorrow ๐๐.
Popping out shortly to set up the tables with some other willing bodies ready for an afternoon tea weโre having in church to raise funds tomorrow. I hope the weather doesnโt put people off, as itโs forecast to be a bit unsettled tomorrow afternoon.
Today has been more overcast than of late. It's still very warm but much more pleasant for moving around. Tomorrow will be sunny again. Took advantage of the slightly cooler feel and cycled into Porec, where we had a late and decidedly average breakfast. Michel Roux would have had a hissey fit at the excuse for an omelette I was served!
But we really went to Porec for me to visit the ancient basilica there which did not disappoint. It dates from the 5-6th century and is the oldest, largest most complete example of an early christian monastery complex in the world. Lots of exciting (for me anyway!) things to see. Lots of Roman architecture and early christian carvings. Roman frescoes and so many beautiful mosaics. Suspect we would have to go to Rome to see anything else as complete all on one site. Lovely.
Now back at site where I've been snorkelling with shoals of tiny anchovy like fishes plus a few bigger boys and am now enjoying an extremely delicious, dripping with honey, baklava and a cuppa. Out to dinner tonight where I'm hoping to enjoy some grilled prawns.๐
LB - meant to say earlier - so pleased to hear Jack is home. Hope he settles in safe and sound.๐
Rosie - your winter scarf sounds nice. One of my favourite colours.

We have sunshine here so far and itโs pleasantly warm, so Iโve risked putting some cloth things out on the string. With luck, they should dry.
Beautiful picture @Topbird.
