Good morning Rosie and all arriving later. I overslept again this morning - probably because I stayed up later than usual to watch the match. England were awful in the first half with many basic errors but shaped up a bit better in the second. It was woeful to watch despite them winning.
@Biglad clearing the gutters is one of my favourite jobs to do but I'm wondering how much longer I will be able to manage it.
Rosie, I've got my cuppa to hand
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
I think I start work on a new job this morning. Was given today as a start date but it needed to be sanctioned (starting last Monday wasn't sanctioned ). Have heard nothing more so I guess I better get going with whatever it is I'm supposed to be doing. I do love a good, solid plan!
Good morning @Biglad. I seem to remember you hinted at this a few weeks back? I may have got that wrong though. It seems a very haphazard organisation but I guess you have learned to adapt to their methods after your years of dealing with/for them.

Morning all. Pretty miserable and cold looking outside, haven't been out but it's a bit chilly inside. Winter dressing gown out now. I have a blood test booked for tomorrow, GP surgery telephone appointment booked Thursday and hair cut appointment Friday. Then hoping to pop over to visit mum. Could be a busy week ahead. Biglad, without being sanctioned can you start work then? If not, back out into the garden ๐ Rosie, hope you're wrapped up warm when you wake early hours, it's so dark on a morning now too.
Good morning everyone. Much cooler this morning I am pleased to say .Winter is hard on our heels and still so much clearing up to do in the garden . I must make a start today .
Good afternoon all, after a dry morning (not forecast), we have a very wet afternoon. I was just about to go out and hand deliver a birthday card for tomorrow when the heavens opened, so I will wait now until it eases off, which is supposed to be around 5 pm. It certainly looks more autumnal now. Hope you are all having a good day.
Good afternoon all. Well it has persisted down here all day just about. We do not have a quiz match tonight so we are going out for a curry instead. Looking forward to that.
Thank you @Red maple, you have just reminded me that I need to post off a card to my nephew and niece in law. I agree with you about the Autumnal feel as my trees are really shedding their leaves now.
I will sign out for today and see you all in the morning. Enjoy your evenings. Buona sera T'Bird and your OH.
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
Evening all - from a rather rainy Austria. First rain we've seen all hols. Yesterday wasa bit of a lost day in some ways. I awoke at about 1am on Sunday morning feeling a bit 'arry and Dick and then proceeded to upchuck every hour, on the hour until about 6am.
So yesterday I was as weak as a kitten with zero energy and just wanting to sleep. At my insistence we continued with our plan to drive to Sth Austria. We stayed off the motorways so drove through some beautiful Croatian countryside (lots of vineyards and olive groves) and drove over one of the spectacular mountain passes from Italy into Austria. Unfortunately I missed a lot of it because I felt so awful and kept falling asleep.๐
Arrived at a campsite mid afternoon by which time OH was also feeling poorly (guess it was a tummy bug) and we both needed to lie down. Went to bed at 4.30pm and didn't stir until 7.30am except to get undressed! Feeling a lot better today and we'll be fine tomorrow.
Today we drove over the spectacular Grossglockener Hochalpenstrasse and enjoyed spectacular views of the glaciers (much smaller than when we here 30 years ago) and fabulous views down into the valleys. Not sure where we'll end up tomorrow - see what happens.
Hope LB enjoys her curry. Love a good curry but the thought of it is not appealing this evening. We had tomato soup and a bread roll for dinner - as much as either of us could face...
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
I did 2 hours gardening this morning, before lunch. Then lunch, then it poured with rain so thought I'd watch some TV but Internet and landline don't work. We watch TV through Internet. OH spent some time talking to Vodaphone to no avail. Bother it.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Joys of rural internet BL. One of the (many) reasons why I resist all the offers / lures / sales pitches from SKY to persuade me to switch to SKY Glass which relies entirely on streaming programmes. Our internet is much more reliable than it was pre-fibre optic, but it's never going to be as reliable or anything like as fast as urban dwellers can expect.ย As for cable - well I guess we'll get that when they lay on mains gas....
