Thank you, @Ladybird4 When we moved over 20 years ago, there didn't seem to be so much paperwork or legal stuff involved. We had the mortgage to transfer and increase too.
But we do have more "stuff" now too. Downsizing instead of upsizing. More memories. Don't really want to go, but I need things to be at ground floor level now.
Plus, my wife has always lived in this town, so it's a big change for her.
Thank you for the encouragement. I'm sure everyone goes through similar emotions and struggles, if not more.
Morning all. @rowlandscastle444, moving is a top-level stress maker....we won't be doing it again,,,,gawd, all that painting to do............ ... which reminds me of ours ( still) to do😬
Im so tired this morning, the ( 4) bad nights sleep seem to be catching up finally. I am having lots of a really funny dreams and I don't normally dream at all.
LB, hope you've found lots to do today to take your mind of the car( if you're anything like my OH when his car is undergoing its MOT) but it's only a young car so should be ok......unless you secretly thrash it about, scrape roughly through the gears, bang it up and down on pavements and drive it through hedges😂 It will be fine.🤭
Moving is nearly always traumatic @rowlandscastle444, especially downsizing from a home you've lived in for a long time and when it doesn't go smoothly. I lost 2 houses because my buyers dillied and dallied for so long. Once you are in your new home and making it yours it will be fine.
The garden here has grown. It looks a lot better than last year, the lawns are lovely and green. Last year they were beige and we had to do a lot of re-seeding. Shows what rain can do.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Hi @Songbird-2 and @Busy-Lizzie We know it's stressful, especially as one gets older. I can't do things quite as quickly as I used to.
At least we are getting the survey done this week. They had initially said the end of September, but then had a cancellation, so we jumped at the chance.
We've lost two options of a new home already this time around, and are not strangers to the disappointment, but I really would like this one to be our last move.
@Busy-Lizzie it is so uplifting to see the greenness of the garden, particularly after last year. I appreciate the garden so much, and to me, it was meant to be green, not beige!!
Sorry that you are so tired, @Songbird-2 as lack of sleep is so dispiriting. Hope you find a chance to rest in the day. My wife has her nap about 4pm - a time when I try (sometimes unsuccessfully) to be quiet 🤐!!
Good morning everyone .Welcome home Busy .I hope you are not too tired after your journey. TBird what a nightmare all those mozzie bites. I hope you get some relief from them soon . LB I hope your car is picked up soon.Rowlandcastle444 I hope the stress of preparing for your move soon fades when you are settled into your new home .Hazel I hope your sleep pattern settles down .I know how not sleeping well can mess up your day . I am expecting a rose today .I haven’t come across it before (Henri Matisse ).I had better get on my OH has a dressings appointment at the the nurses hub today .
Rubee, I've got all my gear and compost ready to take to mums to try and rescue her lovely white rose. Don't know what it's called and knowing my luck with roses, it may struggle, but at least I will have tried.
Think daughter is finding this current situation with mum rather upsetting. Living so far away doesn't help either.
Busy, so pleased to hear that your garden is looking good this year, all your hard work will be paying off. Bet your OH was glad to see you.
Rowlandscastle I can remember moving and I said goodbye to quite a few items including my brass bed. Hope yours will be a smoother experience. Hazel let’s hope you can rescue the rose. Sorry to hear your daughters finding your mum being at a distance difficult. I lived a long distance from my granny at one point but would visit, although a long journey. It depends what’s practical not everyone’s able to travel. Rosie
Hazel! You've been watching me drive! Only joking of course. You're right, it is my car's very first MOT so I'm not expecting them to find anything wrong with it.
I have a feeling that you will be successful with this rose move. A little tip, use a fork at first to loosen all around the rose after you have pruned it back. This will be more gentle on the fine roots T'Bird spoke of and then you can use a spade to finish off the job.
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
Good afternoon all. Well car is back, all OK and its been cleaned too. I've been collecting some of my Gardeners Delight tomato seeds after watching what Monty did a few weeks back and they are drying on a piece of kitchen paper now. I used some tomatoes that had been 'grazed' on by something overnight. Maybe a slug or a snail or possibly a mouse, anyway, tomatoes I would have just consigned to the compost bin. It will be interesting next year (if I remember where I put them!) to see if I get as good a germination from my collected seeds as I got this year. I have nearly eaten all my tomatoes - given some to both my neighbours and I'll be sad when they are all gone as that is a signal of the end of another season.
