I know we’ve discussed the unfairness of Leyton being in the show as he dances and performs as a job (so I will not be voting for him) but… his dance was superb tonight. If he was bit more humble and less aggressively competitive he could win. Will be up
    the public though so…

I hope there are two group dances tomorrow rather than two guest performers.

Leyton , a great show tonight but ?
  • Leyton and Nikita were amazing. The end was fantastic, how did Leyton travel the length of the floor in a flash? I had to watch it back to see, the professional dancers who performed with him were applauding his performance at the end.

The faces of the dancers standing with Claudia showed it was special too. For Nikita there was the magic forty and his face said nothing else matters now, to face hate for appearing on Strictly is a reflection of those who hand it out. The dance will go down in Strictly history.

  • Layton, Ellie and Bobby could appear in any West End show and not look out of place, Annabel has improved so much she deserves a vote I'm glad that there wasn't a public vote this week as I couldn't separate the four of them. Poor old Nigel they push themselves so hard that injuries are always a danger.
  • Do hope poor Nigel wasn’t booked in to do panto this year  :/

Strictly is so much more than simply a ballroom dancing competition… it’s often a springboard for actors or singers  to broaden their skills and thus increase their employment opportunities as they grow out of pop music or get written out of soaps … there’d be no point in some of them doing it otherwise. 😊

All art forms grow and develop … ‘classical’ music grew to embrace folk, jazz  and other music traditions … ‘fine art’ now includes photography, film, interventions, performance etc. and not just painting. Go to the theatre to watch a performance by a ballet company and you may well see performances that ‘cross-over’ from ballet to jazz or even street dance styles. It’s where genres meet and meld that exciting things happen and art forms develop. What would we be watching if dance had remained the same for the past hundred years?

Strictly has increased the audience for all forms of dance in the UK … it’s also increased the interest in different music styles … I think it’s been hugely influential … as Anton would say …. Marvellous 😎

Layton and his partner would have been torn apart if Len was still judging.  As others have said, he performs he doesn't dance for the most part.  Yes his moves can be spectacular thanks to his dance and gymnastics background but he often fails to comply with the basic requirements of the dances.
  • I don't think that judges would last long by tearing people apart they have to be very careful what they say to contestants mental health and all that, maybe they were ultra kind to Layton this week as he had apparently received hate mail and who knows he may even have considered quitting. Craig had to think long and hard about awarding a ten and I'm sure that he could have found a reason to deduct a point he seems to with most contestants, quote "you lost your frame for a few seconds" so get a nine.
  • Just a thought … could it be said that dancing is something we do to amuse ourselves whereas performing is what we do to amuse others?  🤔
