I always find it fascinating how every year there is a debate about the contestants and their level of dance knowledge (and l include myself in this :) ).

The mention of Natasha Kaplinsky took me right back, and Craig certainly had it spot on when he said the show dances of that time would be nothing like Ellie and Vito's.
I would like to have seen Brendan Cole throwing her around like that 😁. Different times.

The show has evolved just like everything else, and just to show how much, I found this video of the winners from one to six.

Next year it celebrates its 20th anniversary. Where has the time gone ?

On a positive note Strictly does seem to have moved on from having at least on celeb who was there purely for their comedy value.

    Les Dennis @KT53 ?
I've never got over the sight of Russell Grant being fired from a cannon .

  • 🤣🤣 @AnniD
Or Ann Widdecombe  being dragged and swung around the floor! 🤣

Let's be honest, Anton did earn his pay that year @star gaze lily  :)

I think the worst thing about Anne Widdecombe (yes, l daresay there are many) was her absolute refusal to wear a good fitting bra as advised by the costume department.

I thought she was good value and great fun and didn't take herself at all seriously, unlike that idiot BBC journalist - John somebody - who resigned because he "didn't want to stop proper dancers from winning".  Stupid man.

I'm still really pleased that someone who took to the dancing won and not just someone who entertains tho I was pleased to see he finally learned some respect for the footwork and posture in his quickstep.   Excellent final and evenly balanced in the end.

Really enjoyed the Final and although I wanted Ellie to win anyway, it was her show dance that sealed the deal. Ok they marked her as 9/10 as one mistake, but a whole point off for one mistake when the other 999 moves were perfect?! I think the public made their point. Leyton’s Argentine Tango was stunning, but so it should be as a musical theatre performer. Bobby was a delight and deserved to be in the final.

    Pleased Elie & Vito won
Layton was very good and I’m sure he will do well on the West End
Bobby has a great future ahead of him

I never thought about Les Dennis as I never thought he was funny even when he was supposedly a comedian.  The funniest thing he ever did was marry Amanda Holden and think she did it for his sparking wit rather than his fat wallet.
