Thinking of all of those of you sweltering in the heat over on the continong.  For us it is just perfect at the moment - nice and sunny in the day and cool enough to sleep at night.  Sorry! (And sorry to those in the north too under ominous clouds - but we'll get them soon enough).

Did some late night plant ordering before bed last night - a hydrangea (veittchii - white) and some Honorine Jobert anemones for the area just cleared in my semi shady bed.  I have just taken out a huge lump of Bowles grass - dare I put some back?  Bought from Burncoose so the plants should be good when they arrive.  Couldn't risk any of the local nurseries or garden centres not having the plants I wanted.

Better get out there - those tall nettles adjacent to the cleared bit also need clearing. And the bramble.  And the ****** alkanet!

Thankfully this is a locally sited festival (only 30 mins away) and the organisers all know OH well … several of them visited him here when he was very poorly so they’re just glad you see him back and have said they’re not going to let him overdo things … also his friend/PA/gofer K is a good friend
and said he will keep a close eye on him. 🤞 And his sister @WonkyWomble and her Lovely Hub will be there Saturday and I’m sure she’ll have a stern word with both of them if she’s at all concerned. She used to be nanny to K and his two brothers after they lost their mum when they were still children.

Evening all, not sure where the day went and didn't manage to get any gardening done.
We decided on a whim to pop back into town to visit our favourite furniture store which had a sale on and came home with an oak nest of tables. I'd been using a tray on a dining room chair to put my mug, chair controls, phone etc whilst I was poorly as it was higher than my existing little side table so decided a new one was needed. OH is pleased with his side table as well.

After lunch it was too hot outside so I got the sewing machine out and altered the cotton dressing gown I'd bought online recently. Took a good foot off the bottom and 6" off the sleeves. Ran out of white cotton so had to finish off by hand.

Hope my son and his family are okay over in France, they're down in Nice. I couldn't cope with the high temps over there. Hope it cools down soon for all our posters living in France.

    Evening folks.

ONE more day in work then 10 days off!!! Not looking fab weather wise but that’s the way the cookie crumbles.

Just listening-out for the owl, as it’s been about the last couple of nights. Night all.

    Good morning all.

Overcast and humid 24°.5 this morning at 6!!  About the same now.  Another hottie today.  Apparently, the weekend looks more clement ... but no rain here.

Early hair appointment this morning so early start here.

If there are any Bartholomews around, it's your turn today:

    Good morning all 😊 ☕️
Hope everyone’s had a restful night and @Liriodendron ‘s tweaked back has relaxed and is less painful.
It seems strange not to have to get up and rub creams into son’s grafts this morning. Hope he slept ok. I expect he did … he’s like my Pa … apparently when he was in the RAF folk used to say ‘he could sleep on a clothes line’  and son and I take after him … I once fell asleep laying on my back on the concrete floor of a sculpture studio with straws up my nose and plaster of Paris over my face. 😊

Morning all. Hope you are all well. Took ages watering the garden last night at dusk. It's raining, very fine rain like last Friday, still very warm though,19c. Does one you kind souls have a recipe for tomato pasta type sauce that you can keep in the cupboard? I usually make chutney, last year, ketchup. I made 3 jars of "fresh sauce" yesterday, you've got to use within 7 days. You can freeze it, but the freezers are full. It was tomatoes (obviously) onions, celery, carrot, chilli, basil, garlic, paprika. Also, could anyone tell me where the devil the new jars have gone! I used to keep them in the spare room wardrobe. Two lots, the standard size, and some smaller ones, pretty shape, with 4 squared off edges. I'm sure they went up into the loft, hubby says they definitely aren't there. I re used some a couple of weeks ago for jam

Morning everyone,  same here NB, we watered all the pots last night, now we have fine rain. Not enough to overcome the rain shadow round the pots and under some of the Acers.
