Afternoon folks, haven't done much today except help OH strip the guest bed ready for daughter's visit at the weekend. Think I'm feeling very slightly better, pain in my side is lessening due to a morphine/codeine mix.
By a strange coincidence, my SIL has this morning also been diagnosed with Polymyaglia but due to my describing my symptoms and recognising she had similar, she saw her GP quickly. We are so very thankful she was diagnosed today as she cares for my severely ill brother (she's an ex ward sister). They might have both ended up in hospital as they both have multiple health problems. My brother might still have to be admitted today if the cardiac nurse thinks he should. This is getting to be almost a weekly occurrence. Waiting on his blood test results taken this morning.  Such a worry.

Perhaps we should have a separate  Health thread!

It looks as though we should just avoid the big storms most of England is forecast. I'm keeping my fingers crossed my gardener will come this afternoon but it's started raining.

Snap @Lizzie27! I have stripped the guest bed but after daughter's visit. Done some HW today and sorting of photos for Son 2's birthday album. It rained but the sun came out a bit this afternoon, rather spoilt by a strong wind.

My brother hasn't heard back about his blood tests so hopefully no news is good news.

@Dovefromabove, we understand from friends whom we were thinking of visiting in Kent that there is a big UB40 concert at Margate on 30th Sept. Would your son have any idea how tickets have been sold please? Don't fancy sitting on the motorway for hours!

My lovely new gardener turned up in the pouring rain and planted my irises at last. As soon as she left, the sun came out!

Really tired tonight so going to bed early. Combination of codeine pills and morphine patch working better thank goodness.

@Lizzie27 son has no specific info about ticket sales for that gig, but he says it’s at Dreamland on the seafront which is supposed to have a capacity of 15,000 thats only half a normal football stadium crowd so it really shouldn’t mean too many traffic problems. Hope that helps.

Night night all. Sleep tight. 🥱

Morning. Son has just left to return to Canberra.  Pixel is still sleeping on our bed. Anyway, quiet day ahead for us.

    Good morning all 😊 ☕️
Low dark cloud this morning, 16C and a swirly 14mph wind from the NW … doesn’t feel much like August … the farmers will be struggling to bring in the grain harvest.  :/

I’m still waiting for a tracked delivery of knitting wool … Royal Mail sent me an email saying it was being delivered within a certain time period yesterday but it didn’t arrive … that’s unusual for them, they’re normally very reliable. Just as well I don’t have to go out today.

@Lizzie27 having looked at the programme of events at Dreamland this summer we suspect that Dizzee Rascal on 19th August will attract a much bigger crowd than UB40 nowadays, and the Pride event on 12 August is likely to draw a good crowd. I suggest your friends see how much the roads near them are affected by those events and then you’ll have an idea of how congested it can be … but do bear in mind that UB40’s fan base will be quite different to the other two. Also UB40 are doing several gigs in the southeast in August andSept so anyone who wants to see them will have plenty of opportunities and won’t have to travel far.

  • And now August has arrived … schools are closed, the grain harvest is in full swing and seaside towns and villages are packed to the gunnels; while gardeners are thinking about planting up pots of bulbs for spring … at least this one is …

And now we have another thread for saying hello to friends old and new, sharing news about our days, the big stuff as well as the not so big  …  giving a shoulder to cry on through the tough bits; rejoicing in shared triumphs large and small; and nattering to each other over a cuppa about the bits and bobs of life … so find a comfy chair, the kettle’s full, the biscuit tin is well stocked, there may even be cake later on …

I'm all for dropping in where cake is involved!!😁
I'm partial to a slice of chocolate cake or Victoria sponge or .... just cake.

    Thank you @Dovefromabove

    Suffolk skies.
Hello everyone, apologies for the disappearance. Our friends here are full of energy, they have organised so many things for us to do, lovely, lovely people. But I am knackered 😄
Festival was a bit of a mixed bag this year. Lots of ramblings about the rappers, I thought they were excellent even if it's not my cup of tea either. They gave all while some of my favourites like Kate Rusby were disappointing. Something was definitely wrong with the sound this year. Has Rob heard anything @Dovefromabove?
Hope you all have a lovely day.

Not that he’s mentioned to us @coccinella … but I’ll ask him this evening … he left here at 8 this morning … they’re very busy at the moment of course … I simply don’t know how he’s doing it … a few months ago we were being told he was unlikely to be back at work until Christmas. He is getting as much sleep as he can … weekends and evenings he mainly just eats and sleeps.
Did you get to see/hear Hollie Cook?
That’s a beach I know and love … I spent a summer there doing a series of work (paintings and film) based on the power of the sea and the eroded cliff face.
