Oooh @Hostafan1 … that takes me back to being a child living in a very old Suffolk farmhouse … every year housemartins nested under the eaves by my bedroom window … their incessant chattering was magical … in the summer Pa would move my bed close to the window so I could lie in bed in the evening and watch the parents flying into the nests with beaks full of midges. 😊

I was cutting the grass and one just sat and watched me as I passed within 2 feet of it. I guess it's never seen a big fat ugly old Scotsman on a lawnmower

It still hasn’t 😉

Lovely photo Hosta. Still cold here, but not unexpected. Our local fire brigade did a backburn nearby yesterday, so today Hubby has gone out there to check the perimeter and make sure things are safe. 😏
Good morning all 😊 ☕️ It’s still and dry here in Norfolk, with a few clouds breaking up over the north-western horizon, and the morning is full of the sound of cooing woodpigeons. It’s about 10C at the moment … it looks as if we’re in for a few days of warmer drier weather than of late. 🤞

Calm here too. Sunny day expected and so far, no wind. The weather has cooled down considerably with 20°C in the morning and a high of 28°C this afternoon - which is a normal pleasant summer's day. Hot for you up in Blighty, but a drop of 5-10°C here. (Still too hot to stuff around in the garden).
La tomata on the cards today. My tomatoes are coming in thick and fast and the neighbours gave me about 5 kilos, so into some tomato concentrate today.
I sowed some broccoli seeds last night, so they should be planted out in about a month. I'll buy some cauliflower and cabbage plants to plant next week. Any earlier, and the plants bolt in the heat. The days are starting to get shorter so any time after the 15th August is good for here.

(I bet it gets hot in there - doesn't bear thinking about, does it?) I need to have a serious word to Saint Anthony as I have lost the keys to my bike and its lock. I think he has gone on holiday, as I can't find them anywhere! Took them out of my bag and put them somewhere safe - as you do!! I have a spare set - but....
Morning all. Blue sky sun this morning,it went down to 14.4c overnight. Was watching the meridian news last night, people in Brighton (which isn't that far away) saying "it rained the whole of July and August". We're on a HOSEPIPE BAN,it said it was the hottest July on record (I did check, the "records" don't actually go back hundred of years, I forget the actual year they started. )We were saving the water from the shower , from June. Started making the cushions for the dining chairs. Grandkids came round unexpectedly yesterday,a 5 mile walk from theirs. They had taken a football to the park in the next village, decided to pay a visit. We were in the garden (front door locked) very leggy, agile grandaughter 13,stood on her brothers shoulders,so she could reach gate lock. She was lucky, hubby had been out litter picking,on not closed bottom bolt. Grandson, was crying because he wasn't allowed to stay, but I said his mum is extremely worried about her job(Wilko) landlords plumber installed new gas boiler last week.... taking several days, whilst spending most of his time arguing on the phone with his wife!!! It doesn't work!!! Then the hairdryer blew up. I can imagine the language. Right off for my tea. Have a good day one and all.
