I'd let him get on with it @floralies! An OH who weeds is a rare thing  :)

My OH weeded the veg patch yesterday … following a spring of virtual neglect it was full of Datura stramonium (Jimson weed/Thornapple) and Nicandra physaloides, (shoofly plant).

Do you remember there was a poster who was desperate trying to get both those poisonous plants to grow?  He was trying all sorts of complicated techniques … I seem to have no difficulty at all 🙄

The purslane and the bindweed have completely taken over the bed where he is weeding, I think he will be back there in another two weeks! @Busy-Lizzie.

Morning all, looks like we've fortunately going to have another warm sunny day.

Unfortunately, workers have now closed our road just before our house, just as I'm expecting our new cleaner and then the s/m delivery. I've texted the cleaner to tell her to come the other way but can't get through to Sainsbury's.

Daughter did arrive and it was lovely to see her, 1st time since March. She's now working from the dining room table so we're tip-toeing round being quiet. Going out for dinner tonight as I missed my birthday treat on the 27th.

Hoping to potter round the garden later.

I would’ve thought that delivery drivers would be aware of road closures… they show up pretty quickly on most Directions Apps nowadays. 🤞

@Dovefromabove,  It must have been an emergency closure about 8 am this morning - we had no warning. Hey ho, these things happen and at least they can get here from the other direction - I think!

Most of the appsread the traffic flow via mobile phones, sensors and satellites … if there’s no traffic they often assume a holdup of some sort … they don’t need to have been told about it beforehand.

    Hi all

Lovely day here, even managed to wield a pair of secateurs, gently.

Good news @punkdoc, I'm hoping to do the same after lunch. Cleaner and S/m delivery have both got here - we now have lunch! Brie and salad.

Ooh, very envious, @Lizzie27. Just back from a mini shop at Waitrose, got some lovely free range ham for OH, but now wishing I’d got some Brie for myself. That would go down a treat, can you save me a piece?
Overcast here, but otherwise very warm and pleasant, so we are sitting outside having a late morning coffee. Got a bit noisy as the house opposite has a gardener in, with a particularly noisy strimmer. Just seen him chucking the twigs and fallen branches off the lawn, over the fence and into the stream. Don’t think I’ll be asking him for his business card!
Did over three hours pruning and bramble removal yesterday, so a bit stiff and sore today. Might manage a little gentle gardening this afternoon.
