Afternoon all, it's been quite a busy day here so far. I rang the surgery at 8.30am to arrange a telephone review of my high steroid meds which they'll do on Friday. The shower chappie came at 9 am to replace the broken mirror and also to fit a grab rail in the shower (I got pressurized by family to have one fitted). It makes sense I suppose as we're not getting any younger.

Then my cleaner texted to ask if she could come today instead of Thursday - I am in awe, she's like a whirlwind, cleaning things and places that wouldn't occur to me. She does make me feel very guilty though.

The pharmacist also rang to check on my progress and my meds (is that a new thing?) and the surgery rang OH about his recent request for a hip op referral.
So after a late lunch I find it's now 4 ish and I'd better get out in the garden for exercise and fresh air. It looks nice at the moment.

Glad you're safely home @coccinella, pity about the flies.

@punkdoc, OH used to take his stockings off just for an hour or so in the evenings to get some relief.

Good grief @Dovefromabove, your boy hardly seems to sit down these days. He's obviously making good use of his 2nd life. I believe chicky was travelling for a month or so?

@didyw, I don't notice our quality of life has altered because of Brexit. What did you mean? It's inconvenient for Busy-Lizzie and people like her but it's a small price to pay for our freedom from the EU.

@Teacup, we see each other a lot, but it isn't so easy for OH since Brexit because of the travelling rules. I have double nationality. Also we got separated a couple of times because of Covid restrictions and because he needed a hip replacement that he had to wait nearly 4 years for, partly Covid, partly waiting lists and inefficiency and they thought he had a medical condition that he didn't have. Anyway, having thought we'd be on our own because of being widowed we met and are very happy together  :)

@Busy-Lizzie so very happy for the both of you, I do believe it’s important to have good company. Saying that though I wouldn’t mind a OH that lived in another country, at least you can get a few weeks/months peace! Haha

Morning all. We couldn’t see our hills yesterday for fine misty stuff, so I was expecting a layer of snow up there this morning, but by 10am, it was clear and no snow. 👍 I hope today isn’t as cold.

    Hope your all ok.

    Good morning everyone!!

I hope that the northern hemisphere doesn't follow you @Pat E as energy prices have sky rocketed here!   We seem to be having the same summer that you had.  Warm then cooler then warmer than warm!!

I bet Rob feels good about driving himself to his appointment at Broomfield @Dovefromabove and pretty proud of himself he should be!!

I have a grab rail in the shower @Lizzie27 installed when my husband was ill.  I find it really useful to hang on to when washing my feet!!  If you slip, at least you won't rip out the shower installation now!!

I have a new OH since January of this year @teacup.  He lives in Montpellier which is an 80km drive away so we see each other on weekends and not systematically every one which quite frankly suits me fine and has allowed the relationship to develop slowly.  We've had two 5 day holidays together and we got on fine.

Misty here again with a cloudy sky - the sun will come out later and we are in for a very very hot week indeed.

My nurse neighbour popped in yesterday and noticed that I was losing muscle mass on my right calf - I have knee and hip problems with this leg - so I have squats and heel raising exercises to do.  I do enjoy the dog run on my bike and it saves the pain on my knee and hip - so you just can't win!!  Exercises it is then as I am having first injection in my knee in two weeks' time and she said it was important that I have muscle mass.

Today is Assumption and a national holiday in France:

The 8th September is said to be her birth day.

I hope you'll all have a pleasant day.

    Morning all.

Was going to say it's a bank holiday in France today but @tui has beaten me to it. I hadn't taken in about your new OH  :)

We had more storms in the night. The thunder at 3am was almost continuous with constant flashing of lightning through the window, followed by heavy rain. It kept me awake again. Should be hot this afternoon, more storms tonight.

Son 2 rang yesterday to ask us to lunch today. They are back from holiday in the south of France. He asked what I had been doing, hard not to mention the album. It's supposed to be a surprise.

Lovely to hear how you’re all going. We’ve been cold today. Knitting helps the brain, but not much physical exercise otherwise.  It’ll happen in time.😁

Son got off on time … since then I’ve caught up with a bit of correspondence, supervised the washing machine while it dealt with a load of towels, did a belated summer pruning of my espaliered pear, and have a red lentil dal underway … time to put the kettle on methinks …
