Well here I am, up and around in the early hours. How I wish I could actually sleep for a whole night as I always used to but since having covid nearly three years ago, one of the 'things/problems' it has left me with is the ability to only sleep for one and a half to two hours at a time. Ah well ........ Daughter decided to spend another few days down in foreign parts (Sussex) but is travelling back this morning. She's hoping to leave anytime now (I'm waiting for my phone to burble with her message to say she's on her way), get to Swansea around 9ish as g/son wants to call into a shop there (?!) and then drop him off at his Dad's farm before actually arriving here probably around mid morning. I am so hoping that these strong winds will have lifted up and away from the M4 before she tries to cross the Severn bridge otherwise she might find it closed. Just popped into the kitchen to make myself a cuppa and switched on the back garden light to see the trees bending with the force of the wind and the poor plants doing dancing activities that would look good at an old fashioned disco! Caught the latest forecast on the news and it looks as though this weather is on it's way up to your area Dove, so stay safe and be careful all of you living up there. Exciting news for @Hostafan1 and @WonkyWomble many congratulations to you both, to the expectant Mums and their families. Well done to @Busy-Lizzie for finishing the album in time, I hope it arrives safely on his birthday after all your hard work. Ah phone has just burbled so they are on their way - and I now become a worried Mum until I hear that they are safely back in Wales again. I hate family doing long car journeys these days. Enjoy the weekend folks whatever you happen to be doing.
Good morning all 😊 ☕️ I’m sitting in bed drinking coffee and eating the most delicious figs … @WonkyWomble sent some home with her brother yesterday 😋 Hope your daughter is having a good journey @AnnaB Its a lovely sunny morning here and calm … I think the storm will mostly have blown itself out before it reaches us. I’ve just been looking at the webcam at Porthleven in Cornwall … the tide is in and it’s really quite rough there this morning https://www.aspects-holidays.co.uk/webcams/porthleven
of course for those who look at the link later the tide will be dropping so the waves won’t be as dramatic as they are now.
Did anyone see Susan Calman’s visit to Southwold and that bit of the Suffolk coast yesterday? it’s an area I know soooo well and I thought she really got a feel for the place. Worth watching if you can. Channel 5

Ah! Saturday - not that it makes any difference but the weekend is nice!
Finally got some figs @Dovefromabove Bet that made you happy!! I hope your family return to their fold safely @AnnaB and good on you @Busy-Lizzie Albums are quite a job and I have one "pending" at the moment. It's not what you put in them, it's deciding what can't fit into them!! Whereabouts in France is your son and family going on holiday @Lizzie27 I hope they have nice weather. Nice to have some time in your own garden for a change @WonkyWomble
I have been invaded by the Gastropoda Crew. I found 2 lettuces chomped down. How they must love those tender young leaves. Out last night with torch but no sign of life. However, I got four this morning! Yes, repellent is in place.
Looks to be another lovely day but it is very humid and muggy.
Nothing on the cards except a trip to the SM for some supplies.
I'm sitting in bed too @Dovefromabove, drinking coffee. Figs are downstairs in the kitchen waiting for breakfast, the last 2 from son. Mine aren't ripe yet.
I didn't see the Susan Calman programme. It will have to wait until I go back to Norfolk unless there is a repeat.
It will be hot today, 33C, getting a bit hotter on Sunday and Monday. I watered the vegetable garden yesterday as it's in production. Picked more raspberries, courgettes and tomatoes. Sweet corn is nearly ready. Butternuts are swelling, peppers are changing colour.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Hi everyone, we’ve been inspecting the work done by the fella with his big machinery who has been cleaning the track around our boundary plus inside tracks. We are pleased with his effort. There was quite a lot of fallen branches and trunks around, so he has arranged them better so that Hubby can cut them into burnable logs. 👏👏
Morning all, I also didn't sleep well last night, a combination of indigestion and the Lucy Letby case preying on my mind. Ghastly crime. OH had an early start this morning so we were up at 6.30 am anyway. I'm having breakfast in the sitting room, the wind has dropped and it's sunshiny. I'm hoping to potter in the garden most of the day if it stays dry. If not, I've got a new cotton dressing gown to alter, sleeves and length are both far too long for me. OH has put my sewing machine onto the table for me as I can't lift it. Son and family have a villa booked near Nice for the 1st week and are then driving down to Biarritz for the 2nd week @Tui34. Hope it's not too hot for them.
Hope your daughter's journey is not too bad @AnnaB. She'll probably pass my OH going the other way!
@Busy-Lizzie I did two of those albums a year or so ago for each of my children - never again!
Goodness he has been busy @Pat E 😃 Glad everyone’s getting their tasks done 👍 We had a good trip down to Suffolk yesterday … a very good lunch out at a farm shop cafe run by a good friend of my son, a meeting at the art centre run by another friend, and then visited my sister in law and some of the family and discussed funeral plans etc … very strange to visit the farm and my brother not to be there … even when he was very poorly his eyes would always be on the comings and goings in the yard outside.

Glad you got your album finished @Busy-Lizzie. I did one for our lockdown year as we had visited the N.Norfolk coast just before it started, we had our bathroom done before and in between and we gave the garden a major overhaul after the builders left it in a state after having our kitchen done the year before. So lots of different pics to put in it. It's always a juggle, sorting out what pics to go in though isn't it? I managed to get 2 pics the same in the mine.
Shame your visit to not-so-sunny Suffolk yesterday was for a sad reason @Dovefromabove but glad you were able to see some art!
I managed a few hours in the garden yesterday. Prayed for rain overnight and then sunny today so I could do some more - and voila! Now, where's that trowel?
