Morning everyone,  it started dry here but now we have a bit of dampness.  Was hoping to get to plots as I shredded a lot of the fruit tree prunings  yesterday and want to get this into the compost bins on the plots.
It feels like Autumn recently,  many plants are showing signs of shutting down for the season.  Hope it warms up a bit and we have a bit of a revival,  it's much too soon for the season to end.

The gardener did turn up and yes, it rained again. She has potted up the rose so I am pleased that this done. She also tidied up the lawn edge OH had trimmed a couple of days (but didn't pick up the bits!), deadheaded more roses and pruned back the cornus which I never got around to doing in the spring. Is it now too late to give this a severe cutting back so the red stems show over the winter?

OH drove me down to get my tootsies done, absolute bliss, a birthday pressie from my daughter but instead of having my toes painted, I asked for my fingernails to be done instead. I'm now sporting bright pink, sock it to you nails so I'm feeling much more cheerful. It was good just to get out of the house and chat with somebody else. OH nipped over the road to the barbers and had his hair cut done at the same time. My first trip in a car since the hospital visits 12 days ago.

    Good morning all 😊 ☕️
I woke half an hour ago and crossed the landing which has a NNE facing window … the sun was coming up a really fiery red spreading across the sky … so we have a ‘red sky in the morning’ too … so we’ve had a calm dry night … wonder what sort of day we’ll have … 🤔

Morning all. Dull and damp here today so far, but certainly warmer than of late which is a relief for me as I do feel the cold. Looking forward to tomorrow as a rise in temperature is forecast, pity it seems to be just for the day.
Daughter thinking about popping back to Sussex on Friday to visit the kids for a few days, normally she travels at night to get more of a clear run through, just read that the M4 will be closed east bound on Thursday and Friday between 8pm and 6 am for repairs, so she may have to attempt a daytime journey, she will not be pleased.
Glad to hear that those of you suffering with medical problems are feeling a bit better, I'm sure that the prospect of some sunshine and warmth would help with your continued improvement. But unfortunately we may have to wait until after the middle of August to see any change in the weather - blame it on all the rain we had on St Swithin's Day (July 15th), rain follows for 40 days and 40 nights according to the prophesy.
Have a good Wednesday folks, we are on the way for the weekend.

    Good morning all.

Red sky, grey sky, but blue sky today here -  again!  I imagine how the rain irritates coming from Auckland, but the land here is parched and dry and very very worrying for  animals and vegetation alike.   Hope you get some sun today @punkdoc

It feels like autumn here too @Allotment Boy but just the nights and early mornings.  Unusually cool.  @floralies had 10°C the other night - so so cool here but I wonder if the vegetable garden will be all right.

Busy day yesterday.  Tomato concentrate and then some cucumber soup.  It's the cleaning up afterwards that is the most wearying.  Quiet day today.

For @jamesholt   After softening the tomatoes by boiling - about 15 minutes (depending on the quantity) - I pass the fruit through a mill to separate the seeds and skins.

Then it gets gently boiled until thick - like boiling mud.  It spits everywhere so be careful of burns.  Stir all the time to prevent burning the bottom.

I usually spread this mixture into  a roasting dish or shallow dish and dry it a bit more in the sun.  But I was so tired yesterday I froze it into portions for pasta or pizzas this winter.

I hope everyone has a pleasant and sunny summer's day.

Good morning everyone,  after yesterday's wet and dreary day it's much brighter,  but still tied to house as we are expecting a man to come back for an issue with another of these new wardrobe doors.  This time the middle door is making a clunking sound as we slide it open . So that's 2 of the 3 so far,  not impressed.
