Morning all, I'm guessing Hosta means 13 hours per shift. He's probably extra busy with more deliveries to holiday cottages? That's a long day.
It's still your wedding anniversary @Hostafan1, enjoy your memories, look at the photos and remember how very happy you were on your special day and then raise a glass of juice? and toast your dearly beloved, he's still with you in your heart and won't ever leave. Hang on in there, the pain of loss does lessen gradually and you will experience moments of happiness again. Your grandsons will help in that respect, how are they?
I'm still in my dressing gown, waiting for OH to try out the new shower and then after I'm dressed OH will give the bathrooms a thorough clean and tidy. I've arranged a phone consultation with a private GP service just for a reassuring chat about my diagnosis and possible treatment, bit anxious about a 10 week wait for a telephone appointment with the Thrombosis Clinic.
It's sunny at the moment and looks rather nice, hoping to have a little potter later, the wisteria is waving at us again and making a bid for world domination! Enjoy your Sunday folks, whatever you're doing.
Golly gosh! That was a violent gust of wind … the back door was open as was the kitchen window as I’d just mopped the kitchen floor … a box flew off the top of the tall bookcase and hurtled across the room … in the 11 years that box has been there that’s never happened before!
There’s a piece of rolled brisket of local Red Poll beef in the slow cooker on a bed of sliced onions, new potatoes, carrots and cabbage are all prepped and the Yorkshire pudding batter is made and resting. The kitchen has had a spruce up and as I said the floor has been mopped.
Time for another coffee ☕️

Morning all. Weather much improved from yesterday's thunderstorms so went out to the veg patch to see what was ready for dinner tonight. Amazing how quickly it goes from why is this taking so long? to where did all these come from?
I had to disturb the deer to get in to the patch, she stood and watched me until I got about 5 metres away before she slowly walked into the woods. Good to see that she is still cautious but lovely to think that she doesn't see me as a big threat after all these years.
I had a buzzard for company as I lifted some spuds, it was gliding just overhead and calling constantly. Then I met the mouse that hides in my big compost bin. Nature at its best.
Popped out of the back door yesterday, and disturbed a large killer bird, possibly a buzzard, on the corner of the lawn. I went over to see if there was evidence of what he had been up to, one of the baby bunnies has come a cropper. Maybe to the buzzard, or perhaps a local fox, and the bird was just cleaning up. I’m hoping one of our nighttime visitors will have cleared away the evidence, haven’t been out to look this morning. After yesterdays violent winds, it’s sunny and warm, with a gentle breeze. I’ve retrieved the recycling box that went walkabout yesterday, no obvious signs of any trees or branches down. Surprising, as the way everything was waving around was quite frightening. Green bin collection on Wednesday, OH thinks the grass is dry enough to cut, and I have a never ending list of overgrown shrubs to prune. Best wishes to all suffering aches, pains, and sadness.
Good afternoon, similar here weather-wise, much drier and brighter. Went to the plots to gather some produce We needed more spuds but of course it took longer to wash the mud off than to actually dig them. Lots of things coming on stream now same as you @steephill, dirth to glut in the space of 3 days 😆.
Well - yesterday went a bit bonkers! First thing in the morning our Whatsapp group was on fire as we frantically had to rearrange everything we had planned for the day - the massive Parade and the Carnival, both outside! Somehow, miraculously, the team managed to take elements of the Parade and Carnival and put them in the local theatre (capacity - 100!). So we put on a show in just a few hours. The queues were round the block, so the audience was brought in shifts, each half seeing half the show. And the massive Black Shuck appearance was moved to the event in the church in the evening! So yesterday saw us all moving things about from one place to another, wrapping costumes in plastic and charging about with our brollies. Another miracle - I still have mine! Here are a few pics that I think you might enjoy:
The last one is of the effigy being 'burned' on a funeral pyre in the middle of the theatre auditorium (attended by one of the fire sprites). People all had 'demon cards' where they could write down what they most feared or any gripe or grumble and they were placed in the 'fire' too (to be respectfully properly burned later to help banish people's demons). Of course the smoke machine set off the fire alarm, but that was OK - the audience had gone when the fire crew arrived! The middle one shows Shuck approaching the Reverend Abraham Fleming as he read out the story of the day the Black Dog visited our town in 1577 and murdered 2 people and maimed a third. Here he has just done his killing and is about to attach the Rev! (Played by the comedian Stewart Lee!). The first one is the giant Shuck that was supposed to lead the Parade. My daughter glued all that ribbon on! One more event this evening and then I'm nearly done - just all the accounting to do after that. All events were completely sold out and our pop-up shop did a cracking trade!
