Good morning everyone.LB I hope you get some dry weather so you can do some gardening . Busy enjoy the visit from your family . Debs your snack looks mouthwateringly yummy. Have a good day folks .
Hello all - back from shopping and everything is unpacked and stashed. Its a joy going shopping at that time of day! The one unfortunate things was it never stopped raining so I did get a bit damp. Got to nip across to see Jack today as he mentioned he wanted some big plant pots and wondered if I had any. I have loads so I've sorted some for him. Tried ringing him but he's obviously not surfaced as yet.
Busy, don't be wearing yourself out. Speaking of the spindly spiders or harvestmen I have found dozens of them over the last two years - they seem to have flourished. I am forever rescuing them with my electronic pooter (which I think Hazel has mentioned). This is a marvellous piece of kit and I use it to rescue bees from my greenhouse after they have pollinated my tomatoes.
Oh wow Debs! I love the look of your cream tea. Could just enjoy one of those now.
Ruby, I am not holding my breath for dry weather today but the plus point is I can look at plants online.

Jam sounds delicious @rowlandscastle444 nothing is as good as home made you can really taste the fruit
I found this out by accident, while my wife was away for 5 weeks, some years ago. A freezer packed with fruit from the garden, had broken down while I was working in London, on a very hot day. I came home to a freezer of rapidly defrosting bags of fruit, so spent much of the evening (and night) making jam, having dashed out to buy plenty of sugar, and beg some jars from various friends - who were only too pleased to oblige, in exchange for a jar of jam. I've never looked back, and all our jam comes from fruit in the garden, or what we pick from bushes whilst out for walks.
And you're right - you can really taste the fruit. Unlike so many shop-bought jams. Both my sisters have taken up the challenge, so we all benefit from the produce. Plus one sister is a dab-hand at baking cakes, while the other makes her own gins too.
Ooh @rowlandscastle444 what a multi talented family you have there. Love the sound of one sister making her own gin. I absolutely love making cakes myself but have never attempted anything alcoholic though my brothers made beer and wine.

Thank you @Ladybird4 Our mum always made her own cakes, bread, jam, marmalade, chutney and so much more. I guess she got it from HER mum! I don't do baking - I leave that to my wife. Jam and stewed fruit is easy in comparison - although there have been a couple of mishaps over the years, which I try my best to forget - but am regularly reminded of!! Such as bottling various fruit, that have resulted in bulging lids of Kilner jars, jams that didn't set, and others that set too well. Elderberry jam that left the house reeking of a brewery. My younger sister is always posting up on Facebook, pictures of new cakes she's produced. Just as well we don't see one another too often, because she'd insist on giving me a cake. I'd get fat!! What sort of cakes do you make? Any pictures?
Afternoon all. Well the sun has finally broken through but too late now to do much in the garden. I've put more stuff in the compost bin and checked on the tomatoes. I am looking forward to Gardeners World tonight.
@rowlandscastle444 I make all sorts of cakes - from C*******s (sorry people but extenuating circumstances) to Victoria sponges to tea loaves and chocolate logs and everything in between. Have started making gluten free now as well. I do have pictures somewhere and I'll see if I can dig some out but I know I have deleted a lot.
This is a C*******s cake - lopsided but you will get an idea. I don't do posh but I've been told that they are edible!

Afternoon all. I'm finally online again, and hope it will stay like this. After extremely heat, two massive storms stroke this part of Europe. I had only strong wind and rain, but in Zagreb area four people died in storm. I was this morning at cottage and all is in order. Didn't read back, but hope you are all well. Now is time for dinner, which I'll have on balcony. Now is so pleasant and fresh outside.
I am signing out for tonight. Spotted that the Tatton GW is on very early tonight so I'll say night night to you all and see you in the morning. Enjoy your evenings whatever you have planned.

We’re off go visit mum tomorrow. Will be glad to get there as weather looks awful.
Ante so nice to see you again and to know you’re safe. Dreadful outcome of nearby storms though, poor souls. Enjoy your alfresco dinner and relish the fresh weather now.
@rowlandscastle444, I don’t like cooking and baking even less, can never build up any enthusiasm for it unfortunately.
I’m off too now, see you all later if we survive the severe(?) soaking we’re heading for. 😂
It's been a busy day. Daughter 1 and family arrive tomorrow, their rooms are ready, chicken in red wine with mushrooms cooked and I've made 2 dessert cakes, one orange and almond and one coconut which will have whipped cream and strawberries on it. No flour, no fat in either.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
