Lovely sunny morning in Norfolk. @tui34 I hope my French garden is being watered. I've had a look at the front drive on the security camera and it's hard to tell. The sky is grey and the trees are still. A couple of days ago I could see the trees moving in the wind. The sitting room camera only shows a night time photo as the shutters are shut, sofas look pale instead of dark red. Technology is amazing.
@Dovefromabove I agree. Daft, stupid, selfish thing to do, now causing others to be involved in the rescue. What a waste of money. I could say it could have be well used elsewhere, but the owners of the money probably aren't willing to do that.
OH is taking me out to my favourite pub restaurant for lunch.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

I agree - and the worst of it is their money making wheeze will be costing goodness knows how much to fix (I sincerely hope the company are required to pay the coastguards' costs), possibly the lives of those in the sub and potentially those of the people attempting a very dangerous rescue. Thoughtless, mawkish, selfish and self indulgent. Bah

Hi all. I do hope those in the submersible are found safely soon so we can continue to berate them for their stupidity. Wasn't a submersible used in one of David Attenborough's programmes to discover new species in the deep? Scientific explorations good - going to the bottom of the ocean or to the edges of space for a jolly? Ridiculous.
We have now had 4 or 5 rain showers lasting between half and hour to an hour each. I just know when I dig down below the top few centimetres I will find dry sand. What we really want is a steady (not battering) and persistent rain that will endure for the whole night. Is this every gardener's wish? Still, better than n'owt.
Whilst I agree with what some of what you are all saying, it is important to realise the value of exploration. One of the most promising candidates for a new antibiotic, is a chemical in an algae found growing on thermal vents, 2000m. Below sea level.

Exploration/real scientific research … yes I agree with you @punkdoc … but ghoulish excursion trips for the super-rich!!! Have they really nothing better to do? 😶
