Hope everything is manageable at work this week @AuntyRach and that you return refreshed and rested after your week off.
Enjoyed your account of your wrestling match with the pampas grass @plant pauper. My daughter and I were at the GC a couple of years ago and I told her the urban myth? about PG in swingers' gardens and we had a good chuckle. Perhaps if I had remembered its scientific name we wouldn't each have put a pot of cortaderia in our trolleys. We had another chuckle over that - and it did look nice in pots on our respective patios.
Very pleased for you, @floralies, I remember him being so ill.
I have some news: my surgeon phoned me last night, said was I free on July 13th., yes I was, good I will do your first hip then...... end of conversation. I had only seen him 2 weeks ago, when he said late summer/ autumn.
Anyway time to start getting my head round the idea, and trying not to be terrified.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
And brilliant news for you too @punkdoc … so much easier to take the post-op exercise you’ll need in the summer.
As for being brave, the way I’ve looked at tough stuff, from driving test onwards is that there’s all those folk out there who’ve done it, and they’re no braver, cleverer etc than I am.
So just be a patient for once … leave your medical qualifications behind for a short while and trust your surgeon, just as your patients trusted you. Getting it right is his responsibility not yours for once … lie back and let it happen. 👍

Wonderful news, @floralies. What a relief for your son and family. And also great news re your new hip, @punkdoc! At least you won’t have too long to worry about it. Good advice from @Dovefromabove, just behave like a patient (although a very well educated one, at least you will know what relevant questions to ask!)
Just cancelled a trip to Oxford to visit daughter. We are not good in the heat, and it’s quite a trek to spend the weekend stuck inside the house in front of a fan. Disappointing, but everyone able and happy to postpone, so hopefully the trip will be rescheduled very soon. Seems even hotter here today. I was planning to tackle the laurel hedge if there is enough of it in the shade, but then again, I might not! No stamina or motivation, useless!
Good news too for you @punkdoc, much better to get it done quickly. OH is so pleased with his but he has needed lots of exercises to strengthen up his leg after the long wait.
It was a very warm morning. I did some gardening and we had a sandwich in the garden. OH wanted to go to Peter Beales to buy a clematis. He's cleared the area, about 1 square metre to the right of the compost bins in front of the fence. I chose Blue Angel. I had one at my old house and it was gorgeous then the deer ate it. Couldn't find Blue Angel and a young man at PB's said they had sold out of Blue Angel and he suggested one called Blekitny Aniol which looked very like it. I looked it up and found that it is in fact Blue Angel!
While we were there and on the road there was a thunder storm and loads of rain, had to wait to go back to the car. Garden is now watered!
Went to Sainsbugs after that for essentials, milk, bread, butter. We are going to stay with OH's niece in Bristol this weekend. Leave tomorrow. Didn't want to come home and find nothing for breakfast!
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
@punkdoc, you'll be fine, just lie back and think of England! OH was very apprehensive having never stayed in hospital before but said the pain relief was very good and the staff were brilliant. I'm just trying to nag him into contacting his GP with a view to getting on the waiting list for his other hip.
I'm the same @Ergates, we've just postponed our weekend trip to Bournemouth as I'm still not very mobile with a lot of pain today. Thought the massage yesterday would have loosened me up somewhat but it seems not. Very hot here, nearly 27c so curtains drawn and fan on. OH did manage to cut both lawns earlier, lots of annoying spikey bits of grass.
@Pat E - what a lovely birthday present. I dropped and cracked my laptop on our granite hearth when I first had it, hadn't realized they were so slippery to hold. I now have a proper laptop padded case to keep it in.
Looks like hope has faded for the people in the lost sub despite heroic rescue efforts. RIP.
