Poor Hostafan, anniversaries are so hard. Hugs.
Had an early walk on the seafront before it got too hot. Gorgeous morning, the kids at the very well attended surfing and lifesaving club were out in force, paddling along in groups according to their age and expertise. I wish they’d had activities like this when I was a child.
The description of your journey to Bristol gave me the shudders, @Busy-Lizzie. We’ve postponed our trip to daughter until next weekend. In theory, less than a four hour journey, but we’ll still schedule an overnight stop to reduce the strain.

Oh is not happy,  her sister has just cried off for tomorrow,  and a lot of the timing for this was to suit them . As she put it she could have done without cleaning and preparing the spare room too.

Afternoon folks, I'm sitting indoors with fan on and curtains closed, it's nearly 29c out there - far too hot for me but Hostafan would be pleased. I've just had a mini Magnum, naughty but nice.

Hope you enjoy your trip to Westonbirt @Busy-Lizzie. I'm not surprised your journey from Norfolk to Bristol took so long - ours in the opposite direction last year took us well over that. Made the mistake of travelling on a Friday, never again.
We've got a long journey up to East Sussex soon for a short holiday, can't say I'm looking forward to it. Just hope it might be a bit cooler then.

I ordered some holiday clothes online which arrived just now and was very pleased to find I liked them and they both fitted! Quite surprised. I couldn't get what I wanted in town last week - I do prefer to try things on before I buy them.

How annoying is that @Allotment Boy, did your SIL give any reason? I cancelled our weekend down in Bournemouth with son and his family as I really didn't feel fit enough but gave them plenty of notice.

    Right, time for a cuppa.

    Hello Forkers!

The mercury hit 35°C at 2pm.  It's gone down to 32°C and it's 5.30pm!  I have been doing exactly what you are doing - inside.  Shutters down on the sunny side and the Air Con is on.

@plant pauper  Kia ora but Bonjour from France.  Would love to see some before and after photos!
@Allotment Boy  At least the bedroom is clean and tidy!
Sounds as if travelling this summer on the roads is not going to be a good idea @Busy-Lizzie   When are you due back in France?

Saw the hip surgeon yesterday.  He wants to try a cortisone injection under X-ray as there is still some cartilage.  I went to the "photoshop" to make an appointment, only to be told that there were no available appointments for such.  I have to re-apply mid July for an appointment in September!!!   So what now?  Just sit out the summer in pain.  The surgeon has given me some strong stuff (Ixprima) but I shall just take one at bedtime.  I'll be a zombie by July!!  We are becoming a third world country as I told the chemist this morning  He replied that I wasn't far wrong and that they were having problems with suppliers who weren't always able to fulfil their orders. Crazy!!

I am waiting for the sun to go over the yard arm as I have a couple of courgette plants to go in.  I dug holes this morning and filled them with water.  I hope they survive.

I trust everyone is enjoying the sunny sunshine.  Isn't it crazy that we have to hide indoors?  The "very young" NDN was tidying out their garage this afternoon in full sun!!

Easy on the prosecco tonight folks!!

I'll trade you 31c for your 25 anytime Hosta. Trying to do last minute tidy in garden but have retreated indoors, with an iced coffee.

Evening folks. It’s about 28 here - feels really hot today but luckily the house is mostly cool. I’ve been wiped out today - not sure if the 12 hour shift did it 😬

We stopped having Take-Aways a few years ago so I learnt to make my own versions but tonight, as I’m feeling a bit listless, I have bought an oven-ready Chinese selection 😋. Duck pancakes here we come!

    Take care all.

@tui34 that's disappointing. Can you phone the surgeon again and tell him that you can't get an appointment for his procedure until September?
    I didn't get "the photoshop".

Hot here too. Been watching a bit of Glasto.

Evening all. We had drizzly rain all day yesterday and most of this morning (the forecast was hot and sunny!), not that it did any good except lay some of the dust and make some of the weeds more cheerful. But after lunch the sun came out and boy, suddenly it was blisteringly hot. Daughter had brought the wheelbarrow round into the back garden for me earlier this morning so I was able to clear up some of the little piles of weeds I have been pulling/collecting around the place. Then after a short rest and a cuppa I tackled the roses, dead heading plus trimming the ends/new shoots of the virginia (spelling?) creeper to keep it a bit under control. The roses, creeper and about 4 clematis are all muddled in together in a long raised bed and it really gets a bit congested to put it mildly!
Another cuppa and a sit to watch the birds feeding and taking baths in the beach end of our pond. A huge dragon fly decided to join the party but no sign of the swallows who two days ago kept dive bombing the pond collecting insects on the wing. An enjoyable end to a lovely afternoon.
Hope you all have a peaceful and restful Sunday.

Morning Forkers. Clear day so far. Hubby said it rained overnight but I didn’t hear it.

Hope you are having a good nights sleep.
