Lovely pics @Busy-Lizzie. Glad you are enjoying Sweden @Topbird - I've only been to Norway, years ago and it was December. But lovely warm hearted friendly people.
Agree it would be good if DA took over Peter Beales!
THE NEXT DAY!
Just saw that I hadn't pressed 'Post' on the above!
Sounds like you had a very productive day yesterday @Ergates. Do let us know what the magnolia flower tastes like!
Enjoy the Norfolk Show @Busy-Lizzie - we took my mum to the Suffolk Show when she came to stay with us the year before she died. Most enjoyable.
So good to read that Rob is getting out and about a bit @Dovefromabove. Of course you will worry but it looks as if he is making really good progress with your loving care and his determination.
Meetings, meetings at the moment! Gearing up to this years Black Shuck Festival and the launch of the new Food & Drink Trail for our town - and the big street market where it will be launched.
The Town Council posted pics of the new town signs on FB yesterday. I was involved at the beginning when we (the business assoc. that I run) and they were discussing the need for new signs, new leaflets etc. Then they brought in a designer whose work I thought was awful but my objections were not listened to - instead I was patronised, so I walked away from it. Now we have leaflets that look more like something you would pick up at the chemist and 2 new town signs that are utterly, utterly bland. But modern, apparently. Not a single comment in favour - all saying how horrible the new signs are.
Hello Everyone. I’m still struggling with getting around my new iPad so have been AWOL a bit.
I’m also trying to finish three more pairs of fingerless gloves to send to my daughter for her and her two friends. Pixel has decided it’s a good time for snuggling up so difficult to knit. 😁
we are currently watching Michael Portillo travelling around the Isle of Man. It’s of interest because some of Hubby’s ancestors came from there.
The weather is still cold, but the ski resorts are happy. Best wishes to all.
Afternoon all, awful night, woke up at 4am aching all over and decided to get up and have a cuppa, then decamp to the guest bedroom to leave OH in peace. Still couldn't find a comfortable position so just dozed on and off till 9 ish when OH got breakfast ready. Felt like a zombie most of the day but did manage to weed the slate square in back garden. Keep telling myself I must keep moving no matter how painful. Another massage this afternoon helped to loosen me up.
Was rather sad when I was notified yesterday that a friend I'd been at college with nearly 60 years ago had died. She was the same age as me so rather sobering. I was pleased though that I'd remembered to send her a birthday card last week.
Your drizzle hasn't reached us here yet @Hostafan1, although it looks like it might any moment.
Rob will be fine @Dovefromabove, take the opportunity of some 'me' time whilst he's at work.
The Council should have listened to you @didyw, what a shame they didn't.
We quite like the Michael Portillo travelogues @Pat E but must have missed that one.
Morning all. Went outside an hour ago. Usually do that when I wake up...it's cooler. I wanted to call myself "pyjama gardener" on here, was told that nickname was taken (well where are you then!!) Actually, not allowed to wear them anymore (it's Simpson nightshirts) Deadheaded the banksii, weeded paving, removed brambles from behind the bottom greenhouse, watered the salad in the top greenhouse,I forgot last night. Hubby cleared out the "main" top greenhouse, moved the peppers into there. My neighbour and my youngest son have moved to my energy supplier, giving us £50 each,(am going to give mine to said son) shame it doesn't happen with solar panels. Neighbour had them installed last week, council scheme and our recommendation. Was fuming actually, grandson had been staying.... just happened, luckily to have gone home that day. 8.30pm bloke putting up scaffolding, right outside his bedroom. Apparently, they are NOT allowed to work after 6. Plus they stick right over our side.I knew full well, the installers would start before 8 as well. They also didn't speak to us. It's a bungalow like us. We didn't have scaffolding,it wasn't required. Neighbour was charged £500 for it. I suspect THAT'S why it was required!!! Other grandparents are also having solar panels installed. They have been told they don't need a 'smart meter'. I can't see how that works! Neighbour is an electrical engineer for goodness sake, has had them because it's costing him a staggering £40 a week just to charge his electric car. He does it overnight before going to work. I've had economy 7 for about 50 years.
Good morning all 😊 ☕️ 18C and it looks as if we have a muggy overcast day ahead of us … and an early start as OH will be opening the shop this morning and as his knees are still painful I’ll drive him to work.
After the watering there’ll be a bit of general hswk and prepping our supper of ‘skate’ wings with capers and black butter, new potatoes and peas … and I’ll make a pea and mint soup for OH’s lunch flasks. Then there’ll be the tennis of course which requires my constant supervision … and I’m doing a bit of sewing just for a change …
We’ve had one of the newer Smart meters for a couple of years now … in fact we have two, gas and electricity … we couldn’t have the first ones because of signal problems, but these are great … fitted quickly and efficiently and absolutely no problems at all … we’re pleased with them.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
We are up, but still having coffee in bed, earlier than usual as we are going to the Norfolk Show. When we've been before the weather has been lovely, but today will be overcast and tomorrow it will probably rain.
We have a Smart meter and I have one in my French house too. Very handy when away and I like to be able to see on my phone what is going on.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Enjoy the show @Busy-Lizzie … we’ve not been for a few years now but I do enjoy an agricultural show … love the heavy horses, and I used to show my Golden Guernsey Goats of course, so I’ll always head for the goats, and the poultry 🐓… and many years ago I got a second prize there with my black Labrador … his litter brother got the first prize and the judge said the only difference separating them was the better show craft of his brother’s handler 🙄

It raineth! After three weeks of stone cracking sunshine we now have rain and lots of it. This is not helping with drying out the peat left by Diggerboy but everything else seems to like it.
We have visitors from England staying next door on the final leg of their 'trip around the island' and they can't believe how green everywhere is. It's the Emerald Isle! 🤣
Today I might pressure hose but it's such a faff getting all the stuff out that I might just sit and look out at skanky paths instead. We'll see.
@plant pauper I'd advise you to put your skanky paths on the Gallery of Shame thread, then spend the time having a nosy through the other pics on there rather than cleaning

@raisingirl I did revisit that thread a couple of days ago. Apart from the shocking shambles on there I couldn't believe the changes in my garden! The best way to eat an elephant is one bite at a time and I/we have very gradually reclaimed almost all of the bramble corner right back to the boundary... wherever that is. The grassy bit (lawn?) has nearly doubled in size! Some trees have grown huge and some have gone! I'll have to update with some new messes. 🤠
