Evening all, think we had some drizzle during the night but it didn't amount to much. Tomorrow's forecast looks better, 50% chance of rain most of the day - hopefully. I'm no better unfortunately, in fact I ended up in floods of tears on the sitting room floor this morning as I just couldn't get up again. Thought we'd have to get the paramedics to come and lift me up. Back just wouldn't play ball but we managed in the end. Quite a frightening experience though. Goodness knows how old ladies living on their own manage. Using a walking stick to get up and down just the three stairs to the landing.
Try not to fret @Ergates. I'm sure the journey will be fine, you'll remember the route and will slip into driving mode after the first few miles. I always pack some snacks and water just in case of motorway holdups and fling umbrella, macs and walking shoes on the back seat in case of unexpected bad weather. OH checks the car over, petrol, oil, windscreen washer, tyres etc and I comfort myself with the thought that if I forget anything, then I can either borrow from whoever we're staying with or buy replacements.
Glad you enjoyed the Show @Busy-Lizzie but sounds exhausting, think I would have given up by 3 ish! Thanks for posting the photos.
I expect most of you are tucked up by now but it's the only time I've found to post. Been getting ready for hols over the past few days. The garden isn't looking too bad although it could do with more deadheading before I go. My cleaner has been on holiday this week so I've had to tackle some jobs that my wrist really doesn't like, but needs must. All my art stuff is sorted and packed, tomorrow will be a washing and drying day leaving me Saturday to pack. Anyone would think that I was going away for a month instead of 5 days. Mind you I have to pack separately for Hubby as he is going to stay with Firstborn while I am away. Sorry about your back @Lizzie27 I hope it improves soon. Sleep well everyone
Good morning all 😊 ☕️ it’s a beautiful morning and my second coffee has arrived 😎 I hope all those with aches, pains and creaking joints have had a restful night and that today is easier 🤞

Morning everyone, very poor night's sleep. We are expecting a man to look at the new wardrobe today as the side rail on one door is coming loose. All under guarantee, but it's one of those "any time between 8 and 5pm " appointments so not sure what I will be able to do today. Most soil on plots was nice and damp yesterday, and large waterbut (350l) is nearly 2/3 full so ok rain but not enough to make up for the past month.
Good morning. I'm still on my first coffee so today is already behind itself. That's never good. Jobs for the day include picking up Mellors' mower from the menders and going into Bigtown for cat food. Yes...cat food. Me! Cat food! Things have changed around here. 🐯🐱😼 Enjoy your garden.
Right, OHs soup flask done, washing in the machine, bins emptied, floors swept and potatoes par-boiling for roasting at supper time.
I’ll take OH to his 10 am appointment with the practice nurse and after that I’ll drop him off at work. Then the washing will be ready to hang out and son will require a bit of attention. Then it’ll be lunch and after that I’ll be required to supervise the tennis. Life’s all go for a retired person you know 😉

I'm still in bed, just had 1st coffee. Must get up soon as window cleaner is coming.
OH is up and in gardening clothes all motivated to attack the buddleia. Previous owners of this cottage seem to have grown it as a multi-trunked tree, but one trunk is badly leaning and top growth seems too heavy so we are going to cut it down. It's making too much shade on the laurel bed too. It's only a bog standard one with rather small purple flowers.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

@Ergates .,, take sandwiches, sweets and plenty of water and a warm blanket. You’ll be fine 🤗
We had a bit of rain earlier but it was dry by mid afternoon … the courgette plants have grown visibly in the past few hours.

We've had some rain. It has freshened up the air somewhat.
So I'm out for a jaunty bike ride and trusty Border Collie beating the path up front before the sun comes out. And it will!!
Have an enjoyable day.
