Just checking in. I remembered to use phone camera for a couple of pics. We are in Romania now but it was Bulgaria this morning. The battle scene is from a very clever diorama showing the battle that liberated the country from Ottoman rule. Pleven , we went into a very interesting art gallery, it's a private collection but open to the public for free. You need to zoom in to see the stork on its nest.
Hi folks thanks for the good wishes. Had a good nights sleep last night with the wrist support so hoping it bodes well. Spent the day at Compton Verney with Secondborn and the boys. I'm very tired feel like we walked miles. The art exhibition we went to see was Quentin Blake who illustrated the Roald Dhal books. The grounds are beautiful too.
Today the sun shone … it was glorious … my son sat in the shade (not allowed in the sun) and watched me put up a teepee of bamboo canes and sow some runner beans.
This year I’ve not made a pit of semi-composted stuff or sown the beans indoors so I could plant out sturdy plants … this year we’re playing catch-up. But they’re in the ground … the soil is warm and damp and my fingers are crossed 🤞 Son says not to worry if they don’t grow … he’s not keen on runner beans apparently 🙄

Good morning all 😊 ☕️ We have a glorious morning here in Norfolk … and a blackbird who seems to have introduced various phone ‘warbles’ into his repertoire 🎶 We love runner beans @Pat E … son will have to learn to like them 😉. So much time living out of a suitcase means that he got out of the habit of eating green stuff other than frozen peas or a bit of salad in a sandwich. Today’s veg will be cauliflower … he’s not keen but says he’ll eat it. We’ll be having carrots too … he likes those. I’m baking a piece of gammon. I’ll probably do creamy mashed potatoes … and cook some new potatoes I got from the farm shop and we’ll have them as a potato salad tomorrow with the cold gammon. I do like to plan ahead … that’s another thing son doesn’t understand … he’s used to living out of a freezer.

I am sitting on a shaded bench at the tram stop. There's a carboot sale and my friend just l9ves them. I don't know why but I find them a little depressing nowadays. So am waiting for her to finish browsing, then home where there's a meatball sauce to go with pasta.
I love runner beans @Dovefromabove . I cut them in two or three if very long, then cook them with olive oil, garlic and ripe tomatoes. Garlic added towards the end of the cooking process.
Beautiful Full Moon last night - The Strawberry Moon 🍓🌝
I made a herb planter for my sister yesterday (Birthday) so I hope she likes it and enjoys picking a few sprigs for meals and cocktails. There’s Lemon Balm, Spearmint, Lemon Thyme, Tarragon and Basil.
The lemon thyme is amazing with chicken or roast veg 😋 recommended.
If runner beans are old and stringy, they can put you off. Good luck with yours @Dovefromabove. I only grow climbing French, due to limited space and we don't get the same kind of gluts as we had with the runners when we had an allotment.
No clay club this morning - daughter has used this half term to have a massive clear out and and is still in the thick of that. I don't mind - more time for me in the garden today. We talked about all the 'art' she had kept from when her girls were young. So difficult throwing that out - but she still has a whole box of it.
Thanks for the pics @Allotment Boy When you said "we are in Romania now but it was Bulgaria this morning" I took that as the land itself changing, like the top of the Faraway Tree! Then I realised and had a chuckle.
