Morning all. We had a visit from our daddy woody woodpecker yesterday. Must get some more peanuts for him. Two years ago we had mummy and daddy and two fledglings visiting regularly for several months before they took themselves back off to the surrounding forestry. No sign of them last year so keen to keep him, and maybe them, coming again this year if poss.
Have also got a pied waggy bottom (what we call them) flying around who has completely lost the plot, but more about him tomorrow after I have done a bit more 'observing' today.
Sorry to hear that the funeral of your friend upset you more than you expected @Busy-Lizzie, these sad events do have the ability of reawakening the memories dont they. A very sad day for daughter tomorrow with the funeral of a friend of hers. A young woman in her 40's told last summer that she had a brain tumour. Since then she has developed multiple tumours and was told just after the new year that there was no cure or treatment. She died ten days ago leaving behind her hubby and a large family - youngest child is just 4 years old. For the last month it has been open visiting hours for all family and friends so daughter was able to visit several times. But just so sad, her hubby and the children are going to need a lot of support from everyone from now on.
Well must get on, sort of busy day running hither and thither wasting time on things I would rather not be doing - shop for milk (misjudged as supplies wont last 'til Saturday, too many cups of tea being drunk this week); then docs to collect all my prescription pills need to keep this old body moving a bit longer; then home to plan the late afternoon and evening watering of all the many pots I seem to have accumulated over the years - looks as though we might have some rain on Saturday!
Hope you all have a good Thursday - the weekend is almost here.

    Morning all,

I've read back, so think I'm up to date with you all. Hopefully poorly peeps are feeling better.

Beautiful weather here this last week and I've spent every spare moment sorting the garden out at CdeG. Felt good to be back out there.

Have lots of other issues going on, which I won't bore you with, I'm trying to think things through before taking any action, not my usual stance, but this time there are serious implications, so I need to be sure I'm making the right decisions.

On a lighter note I'm meeting Charlie in Paris tomorrow evening and we're spending all day Saturday there, including a trip to the top of the Tour Eiffel, thankfully, in the lift. Meeting friends from the very far north of France too, virtually Belgium, so that'll be good.

He's had a fabulous week in Berlin with his friend, and having to speak German all week has really improved his language skills. His friend has been practicing her French too, so win, win for them both.

Have a good day all. 🙂

    Morning all.

So sad about your daughter's friend @AnnaB.

Lovely photo @D0rdogne_Damsel. I hope your problems can be sorted out.

Today will be a clearing up, packing and bed sheets changing day. Off early tomorrow. Tomorrow night we'll be staying with OH's daughter in Eastbourne. Saturday is my sister's 70th birthday celebration. My brother will be coming down from Scotland, it will be good to see him. On Monday we'll be going to lunch with an old friend of mine from when I lived in Kent. She and her husband are still in Kent. I haven't seen her for several years. Looking forward to all of it apart from the long drive to the ferry port.

    Hi all

Cold and grey again, increasingly hard to get any enthusiasm.

@punkdoc   :) it's been almost wintry here for the last few days (my poor toms and courgettes!) but it does seem to be warming up a bit now ... still a 'breeze' coming down off The Wash tho'

Suns out but a bit of a breeze.
Have read back and was sorry to read that the funeral of your friend made you think about your own mortality @Busy-Lizzie.  Best to just appreciate what you and OH can do now, rather than worrying about the future - and you can both do so much more now C. has his new hip!

But @AnnaB - that is so sad.  That poor family.

Bit more computering to do and then I'll be out weeding the bed nearest the back door.  It's completely out of hand and I'm not looking forward to trying to get out the alkanet.  I never succeed - it's been coming back for years.

My Mum’s flat has finally sold, so I should be getting some money, after those thieves at McCarthey and Stone have taken their share.

Afternoon all, we've had to retreat inside as it's so hot outside. I managed to water the front garden this morning to keep it going and will do the back garden tonight. Had a much needed massage yesterday but still woke with very stiff shoulders and back, getting fed up with it now.

It's never easy attending funerals of close friends @Busy-Lizzie, all you can do is remember the good times. Hope your journey back to the UK tomorrow is ok and that you enjoy the weekend celebrations, something to look forward to and cheer you up.

Charlie looks very chipper @D0rdogne_Damsel, hope you enjoy the Paris trip, somewhere I've never visited.

Hope the chaos outside gets quieter @Dovefromabove, thankfully our NDN's garden makeover is supposed to be finished by Friday so it might be quieter here as well. OH cannot stand the noise so all the windows are shut.

I know what you mean @didyw, I saw only this morning that the Japanese anemones are popping up again, despite my best efforts for well over a year to kill it.

@AnnaB, condolences to your daughter, that doesn't bear thinking about.

Hope it's now warm enough to sit in your garden @punkdoc and just admire it.
