Hi folks, Haven't posted for a while but I have been keeping up with all your goings on. Wrist is no better but I am still going on my holiday on Sunday and will just do what I can. Art classes have finished until August so have a bit more free time. Have been busy in the garden doing lots of deadheading and watering. I've also finally finished planting everything that I grew from seed. Nice to see @plant pauper back. Stay cool everyone.
Thanks for the heads up about Peter Beales @didyw. I didn't know it was being sold but I did know that it was no longer a true family concern. It would be good to see it bought by somebody who wants to continue the rose breeding programme as they have a ready made knowledgable pool of people on hand.
It's probably blasphemous to say it but I wouldn't mind too much if DA took it over and we had a 2nd DA hub in Norfolk. The existing one is more than a hike and I've only been twice but I much prefer their roses and visitors' centre.
Away in Sweden (gorgeous, beautiful, hughly recommended) at the moment so no chance of seeing the Red Arrows yesterday. We quite often get spitfires and other aircraft from Duxford flying over when there's an airshow on.🙂✈️
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
Whew, just spent a couple of hours in the garden. OH has cut the grass, and I have been clearing round the trees and shrubs on the lawn, being very careful and wielding my mini mattock. Despite both of us being on heavy lifting bans, it all looks relatively neat and tidy, despite the pale patches on the ‘lawn’. Green bins almost full, and I have a pile of pruning to chop, so that should do the trick. I think I am going to get one flower on my magnolia grandiflora this year! If the deer or squirrels don’t eat it. Luckily, the shrub is now starting to look like a tree, so hopefully future flowers will be too high up to get eaten so easily. Well deserved late lunch / early dinner, fish and chips from the freezer, easy and quick.
We are just home from taking our American visitor to the Natural history museum. He was keen to see it as he is studying Natural sciences and environment at uni. Sorry to say a lot of it has been dumbed down and aimed at 7-8 year old boys, all dinosaur poo and animated models. Some of the upper galleries are still intact thankfully. Yoga tonight if I can summon up the energy.
Slightly overcast this morning … 15C at the moment … I’ve just checked the app … there’s a chance of rain later today apparently.
Son is going in to work at his office with colleagues for part of today … he did it last week so I know he can do it and he’ll be fine … but I still feel anxious.
Obviously I need some coffee ☕️
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Much cooler last night and this morning, phew what a relief, sorry Hosta. I went to plots to water straight after yoga last night hopefully it means I can start tackling some of the weeds today, as I won't need to spend my entire time watering.
