Good afternoon everyone. The sun finally arrived and I have had a great time in the garden and greenhouse today. The tomatoes are all finally in their permanent placings inside the 'skeleton' of the staging. The last pot of Jerusalem artichokes has been planted out and, @Songbird-2, I am pleased to report that my Verbena B. are now putting on a show since the celandines died back. They have developed into a really nice clump. My orchids are putting on a really good show this year and I'll take a picture once they open. If you pinch out the top of your Cosmos you get lots more flowers and they will still swish around in the breeze. Love your freesia. I have never had any success with them.
Ruby, I have some hardy geraniums that need sorting but they can wait until tomorrow - before I go to get my Covid booster tomorrow.
Hello @Red maple. Norfolk is such a delightful place to visit. I have had several super holidays in Sheringham and whilst there visited the seal colonies at Blakeney and watched the small people fishing for crabs from the quay side at Wells-next-the-Sea. Pleased you and yours had a lovely time.
I came in for a cup of tea but think I might call it a day for now. My back feels a bit 'tired' and I really don't want to overdo it.
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
LB, our VB in the ground has started to show some growth but by no means a " clump" of any means. It may develop over the summer but if not, we will take it out. We've put a new clump in next to it so it wouldn't be missed. The seedlings of VB are coming along nicely but as we have 13 of them, I don't really know what we're going to do with them๐คฆโโ๏ธ๐ง๐ฌ But I'm certainly not throwing them away๐ Good to hear you've had a good day outside. A nice change for rain drenched areas......
I've made a start on painting the landing and stairwell. It's all pine panelling with thin grooves between the planks that have to be done with a pointy brush. Takes ages. It looked depressing in shades of beige. I'm hoping that it will look better and fresher when it's all white.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
We we were in North Norfolk @Busy-Lizzie. Based near Fakenham, a village called Great Ryburgh and travelled to various places nearby such as Wells, Sherringham, Cromer. We visited a couple of National Trust properties and also had a day at Pensthorpe Nature reserve. The weather was mostly good, some days coolish, others warmer and just a drop of rain Friday morning, so nothing to stop us getting out and about.
Iโm sure everything will look better with the white paint, it should brighten everything up.
We had a holiday in Suffolk (quite a few years ago). We were near Aldbrough. I remember that we had a very enjoyable holiday there, too, finding lots of places to visit.
Lovely planter @Biglad and I like ย the colour too.
Quick ย question for everyone......
23's bean plant is doing quite well at the moment. I have been hardening it off this last week with a view to planting it out. However.....after I bring it inside, as evening draws in, the leaves flop. It did this even before I started hardening off. Is this normal for bean plants please? I've never grown one before so, it sure what's going on.
Here it is..( please excuse split leaf, think it got ripped on the little wood stake).....by the morning, all those leaves will be upright and standing up again. Is it just ' sleeping?'
Morning Hazel sleep movements known to botanists as nyctinasty are common in plants of the bean family and often starts to happen at sundown. ย Just getting washed and dressed. ย Letโs hope we have another sunny day. ย Rosie

It has rained all day in this part of Dordogne.
