    Morning all.

That sounds better news @Ladybird4, really good that they could remove the clot.

I'm glad your fiancé is happier at work now @debs64.

It didn't rain much yesterday after all. Should be a warm, fine day today.

Big relief, tax now done and dusted for another year. My nice French tax lady said she was retiring this year but she would still take on a few select clients. I asked if I was one of them and she said yes.

It was so warm yesterday we had a light lunch on the terrace.

We went to Lidl, but had to top up at another SM and Lidl is a bit restricted. Then we went to the DIY place, I needed another tin of renovation paint.

I didn't do any landing painting. Instead, I weeded and edged half the shrub bed and OH mowed.

Today friends from where I used to live are coming to lunch. I need to get a move on.

Sorry to read about your brother @Ladybird4. A big shock for you, but thankfully, the news sounds more positive. I hope time in your garden will calm you.
Pleased to hear that your fiancé is enjoying his new job @debs64. Awful that you had a horrible day at work yesterday. Why are some people so rude? I know it can be frustrating when you don’t always get your prescription when you expect it, (or all of it),  but there’s no need for people to be so rude about it.
It’s not as warm today so far as yesterday, with a lot more cloud cover. I’d put on a dress, but quickly changed back to trousers as my knees were getting chilly😁. It might warm up as the day moves on.
Hope you all have a good day.

Morning  all. It was very overcast earlier on but the sun has come out now and near the shed, the temperature is showing above 30degrees! Phew........ we bought an astranthia yesterday and I need to plant it out today as it's in full bloom and tightly packed in the pot but I will wait until the sun goes round the garden and it'll be a bit shadier then.
OH hasn't been too well over the past couple of days, upset stomach. Last night he went through the shivers and fever stage and was then sick. He had a decent nights sleep and although he feels " weak" this morning he looks a little brighter.
@Ladybird4, that is much better news that the clot has been shifted, so worrying, but I sincerely  hope he continues to improve now and cope with the effects of the stroke. Thinking of you.
Thought of you too @debs64 yesterday. We were at the Pharmacy department in the SM and there was a very old gentleman in front of us. He wanted some cough mixture for his wife but when he was asked what type of cough she had how long for, etc, he threw an arm up in the air and said.....she's just got a cough, give me some medicine..... the pharmacist came out but he grumbled at her and finally went off in a huff muttering under his breath. Talk about impatience and bad manners. We all raised our eyebrows at each other in disbelief.

    Morning all,

Reading back, great to hear some good news after the bad @Ladybird4. Hope your brother continues to improve quickly.

I've had a few bits of good news over the last 24 hours. One of my accounts is with a building society who've decided to give £100 to all their "loyal customers".

The council have paid me for every poll card that I was given including the ones I returned. Can't wait for the General Election!

A chunk of my work is being taken away from me. Don't know why and, quite frankly, I don't care. Not only should I be able to stick to the originally agreed number of days per week, I reckon I'll be able to do even fewer :D The garden and my golf should feel the benefit!!

  • LB hope the jab went okay.  So sorry to hear your news and wishing your brother a good recovery from his stroke, glad to hear the blood clot successfully removed.  Sending hugs.

@Biglad my OH has also received £100 from that building society!

I enjoyed my friends visit, 2 ladies. We had lunch on the terrace, 24C. They admired my garden 🙂

Well, I thought there wasn't much left to do in the garden, silly me......we've had to move the heuchera Apple Crisp, has been in the wrong place and  is suffering badly with rust and in the full sun. Seemed ok last year, but not now.We have had to take out a foxglove too as we needed the space. The ground has quickly dried out given all the rain we've had, it's gone dry.
Biglad, nice to receive payment for work done, and work not done! Glad to hear things on the work front are working out to your satisfaction.

Hi folks,  LB Hope things continue to improve for your brother.
Sounds like summer has finally arrived for you Ante.
Bit of a rubbish day today.  Nice morning at Art and left early to have some pampering at my local beauty salon only to find out that my appointment is for tomorrow. I must have put it in my phone wrong.
Had a problem with my local Boots.  They hadn't done a repeat order for my medication so I have been 3 days without my tablets.  Debs, you will be pleased to know that I wasn't rude or angry.  Just explained that I didn't want them to reorder for me again as this was the third time they had failed to reorder and it was just too messy to try and sort it out (you know, chemist blamed GP, GP blamed chemist).  I said that I was going to change my designated chemist to the one over the road, which I then did.  Driving home the chemist from Boots phoned and said they were very sorry and would I give them another chance.  I explained that I had already changed and couldn't face sorting it all out again. I'm just hoping that sorts it all out.  Hubby uses them and he hasn't had any problems.
Came home to do some gardening and while I was planting up some containers stepped backwards and went flying.  I'm now feeling rather stiff and sore.  No real damage done just an uncomfortable shoulder, ankle and knee.  Think tomorrow might be challenging.

Good afternoon all. Recent update on brother is quite positive. He has been eating and drinking and is sitting on a chair next to his bed. His speech has improved though occasionally he lapses into gobbledegook. He struggles to stand up and the weakness is on his left side. He is sitting on a cushion (not whoopee!) which alerts the nurses station if he topples from the chair.

I have had a very therapeutic day today. First of all I bought my new 'comfort height' toilet and had a great surprise when a few hours later I had a phone call to say that they will deliver it tomorrow. How about that for service? I was very impressed.
The gardening was pleasant as the temperature was finally settled 'toasty' after a bit of a dull start. I got a lot of stuff done. I then cleared a space in the garage for my delivery tomorrow. Lots of messages flying to and fro of course.
@Busy-Lizzie, filling in those tax forms sound like a nightmare but isn't it nice that your tax lady will spare you the time to assist in the future despite retiring. Your garden is gorgeous so I can well understand the admiration from your friends - hope you had cake!
@Red maple hopefully it got warmer for you as it did here. It is so nice to have had such a run (all 4 of them!) of glorious days so that going into the garden is joyous.
@Biglad it does sound as if you are getting some of your freedom back and I'm sure that you will be delighted with that. Enjoy reducing your handicap - if that is the correct term?? I know very little about golf.
Rosie, I can't even tell I've had a jab The young man who carried out the deed said " Now you are getting the pfizer (spelling?) vaccine today." I'm not altogether sure I needed to know that but I just smiled and nodded.
Yvie, a very mixed day for you. I'm surprised that Boots let you down to be honest. With them being one of the big high street remainers I would have thought that they were on the ball. Did you fall over something in the garden? I hope that you don't feel anything too horrid tomorrow.
Thanks once again everyone for your kind wishes - they are very much appreciated.
