Yes, LB, back to the UK 9th June. We'll stay with OH's daughter in Eastbourne for the weekend and go to my sister's birthday party on the 10th.
I'm going to mulch the raspberries today. Hope that will keep the water in and the weeds down, though it won't stop the bindweed. The chap, CB, who mows will do the watering and I hope we'll find some veg when we return in July.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Good morning everyone .I haven’t read back brain is a bit scrambled .My OH has been moved to an admittance ward . I spoke to him this morning .He doesn’t want us to go across today in case they move him to another ward .He is waiting to see what the doc says this morning .He has been told that if the meds are working it’s possible he could be coming home today or tomorrow. I hope everyone is enjoying the gardening .
Good morning tge sun is shining and I think we’re in for another warm day. I wonder if the same will happen today as yesterday though as it clouded over quite thickly by tea time which lowered the temperature. So sorry to read that so many of you have worries about loved ones and I hope today will bring better news for all of you. That’s good to hear that your brother is home from hospital LB. Today, a visit to the GC beckons. We need more compost, a couple of large pots and some petunias and lobelias. Better take my cheque book 😂. I hope your customers are more polite today @debs64.
Mornin all. Another lovely day ahead.Already put up the parasol over the outside table plus the canopy shading over the patio doors. ( we face East at the back of the house so we always get the early morning sun). Binmen are just here clearing all the waste so will go out and collect up bags and wheelie bin just now. Then we are popping into town, son's back door bug screen has broken so has asked if if we could get him another one. He can't find one where he lives. Plus I need some more wool, am running dangerously low. Rubee, I hope your OH had a decent night at the hospital and hope he will soon be home....with some treatment which will help him now with the pain. Rosie, when you can, try and catch up on some sleep. You will be shattered if you haven't slept all night. Busy, busy as usual, I don't know where you get the energy from! Did OH go on the walk you did yesterday or isn't he up to that distance yet? Hope you are having a lovely time with your family. Red Maple, bet you come home with more than you went for at the garden centre!😂 Our last compost bag we bought has started growing mushrooms in it! Ante, last day of the week and then the whole weekend at your disposal! Debs, fingers crossed the customers will be nice today....we live in hope.
Good afternoon everyone. It has been another nice day but a bit cooler than yesterday. I've pottered about in the garden and at one stage a collared dove flew into the greenhouse and flapped about wildly. Luckily it perched near the open roof vents and was able to fly away. I did have visions of it knocking all my tomato plants about but they were all safe thank goodness.
I then drilled some drainage hole into a very large container as I have a new rose I want to put in there. I pulled up quite a lot of weeds and then discovered that the buddleja that has grown quite happily outside my back door for years was looking very sad. I got hold of it and with a couple of tugs it just came away in my hands. That is now consigned to the green bin but I did feel sorry as I used to love watching the butterflies feasting on the flowers. Hands up who remembers the year of the Painted Lady butterflies!
Ruby, I must find out from you (or from Rosie) where you order your compost from. Being careful with my back it might be safer for me to have it delivered.
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
Got some new wool and managed to find a fly screen for son. We've got the room ready for 23 this afternoon and then generally had a pottering type of day. I've also, planted out 23's bean plant now. Hope it survives😬 What a shame LB that the buddleia has given up the ghost. Maybe purchase a new one? Its been really warm here today, up to 22 degrees at one point. May need to change duvet to a lighter tog soon 🧐
Hazel, I didn't plant the buddleja, it just 'appeared' as they sometimes do. It seeded itself and I liked it so much I left it to do its own thing - which is has done for several years. I do have others in the garden but this one gave me a wonderful close up of the insects feeding on the flowers. I think maybe the severe frost we had this winter saw it off. I've lost quite a few plants.
I am signing out for this evening. I'll see you all in the morning. Night night all.
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
Have a pleasant evening LB. ( Nothing much on TV so I expect we'll watch something we've recorded. ) You never know, a buddleia may seed itself in there again. Im signing off for today too. Catch you later.
Hello all, work not too bad though busy. I am in tomorrow morning then that’s it until Wednesday.
Hope all who are not 100% have had a better day.
Update on Graham, he has now almost abandoned his enclosure and wanders all over the garden but I try to put him in at night, did so last night, there was some of his breakfast lettuce left with a small slug feasting, he ate the slug! I tried to remove it but he was chomping away clearly enjoying it. Apparently it’s not uncommon. He had some of our dinner raspberries for dessert. Where will it end? I fear he may become quite feral.
Hope the weather holds fine today. Unless someone tells me otherwise, I intend to be in the garden for most of the day. Time to progress all the half-finished projects and make some decisions!
Glad the working week is over. I don't have an official finish date but it won't be far off. Maybe 3 weeks
