I'm sure handy brother was mightily relieved @Ladybird4 - nobody needs that kind of last-day 'excitement'  :o

    Afternoon. Scorching day here.....
We’ve just about made it after the whirlwind  weekend. We were so tired yesterday we didn’t do anything but take 23 home. Eg.... we don’t normally play snakes and ladders at 7.30am! Plus, yesterday morning I awoke with a swollen knee, swollen fingers and wrist. So it was a little awkward mobility wise. I don’t know how you managed 5 Busy, gawd.

LB, your snoopy picture this morning was very apt.

Glad everyone is enjoying the weather. Here, yesterday, we lost almost ten degrees overnight but today, got again.

Rubee, how is your OH doing? Any news about a date for coming home? Has the pain eased?

Rosie, a spider picker has cured my fear of spiders indoors now,no more trying to capture it, just use the picker-upper and drop it outside.
Busy, that's why we have kids when we're younger.....
Biglad, glad you're getting some quality time in with your hobbies..
LB, hope you get all your plants out today. We have some more home grown plants left but have no more room for them.
Rosie, I hope you're feeling better after your surprise agony the other day. What on earth was that? Do you feel better now? Maybe it was (  over )worrying about dad?

Is @Topbird off on her holidays now? I seem to have lost track of when she said she was away again. If you're looking innTopbird, enjoy your break and get some R and R.
  • Hazel I do hope the swellings beginning to lessen and you’re feeling more mobile.  I don’t know what it was could have been stress, as you say, strange things can happen.  I think 23 drained your reserves and you both need a battery charge.  Don’t know yet when dads coming home just hope he’s much better before discharge.  He’s enjoying the puddings apparently they’re rather nice.  Just been for a walk round the garden with mum looking at all the new growth.  She’s made a cosy corner to read a book.  Yes Topbird wherever you are hope you’re enjoying it.  LB hope you haven’t overdone it, your orchids sound lovely.  Rosie

Good afternoon everyone. Well my brother who had the stroke was looking a good deal better than I had expected which was a real relief. He laughed at the get well card I had got for him and loved the puzzle book. The family were organising a BBQ for this afternoon - I wasn't going as I needed to get home. The M6 was a total nightmare!
Hazel, I have an electronic pooter and I use it to rescue bees that fly into the GH and to get rid of more unwelcome critters from the house. I need a new fly screen as my old one disintegrated last year. I prefer the curtains made up of four wide strips with weighted bottoms but am having a lot of difficulty tracking them down. I have a stable door leading out of the kitchen to the garden so I cut the strips so that Lily's front door isn't obscured. I do not want the ones that have magnetic closures.
Busy, I am sorry to hear that you are coming down with a cold. I hope that your OH's stitch removal went smoothly and that he is pain free. I am at the dentist's tomorrow - first time in two years so that should be an interesting experience having had a dentist who looked after my teeth for 30 years. I will have to get used to someone new. I do know that her name is Laura.
Biglad, the perfect day to watch cricket. I love that game! I think handy brother nearly had a melt down when there was 10 minutes of added time at the football match. Not good for his blood pressure he said.
Rosie, I hope that your Mum has been enjoying her quiet reading corner in the garden on such a lovely day as today. I hope that Ante has managed to plant all his sweet potatoes.

We've been watching cricket again today @Ladybird4. We got a lift so I had a couple of pints and eldest was on the gin and lemonades :) Very picturesque ground and stunning weather. 3 nephews playing today so they were taking it in turns to field on the boundary next to us so they could have a chat.

@Biglad, I remember seeing Lillee and Thompson play absolute ages ago - I think it was at the Oval but don't quote me - total magic.

Rosie, hope both you and Ruby have some nice quiet time in Rubee's cosy corner. Sounds like the ideal spot to relax. Glad your dad is enjoying some of the hospital  food, at least. Appetite is important whilst recovering so will keep his strength up. Think you're right about reserves of energy, they were totally used up and more. Although in spirit we are willing, the poor old body just isn't like it used to be. We definitely have limitations now. We are visiting mum on Wednesday so will need to dig deep again......M6 for us too LB!
LB, glad your brother is home and doing well by the sounds of it. I do hope he continues to recover well. I think you made a wise choice to return home before the BBQ. We went out to the big *esc* this morning and it was chaotic on the roads, mad!
Busy, hope you've managed to wind down today after your busy times. How is your OH's mouth after the stitches were taken out? OK? One more step closer to the implants. Summer colds are as bad as winter ones, so plenty of liquids and rest, hope it goes soon.
Biglad, you and nephews sound as if you're all having a cracking time in the sun🙂....and bar.......

OH's mouth is fine, thanks. He said it wasn't painful.

Came back from the dentist, thought I'd relax, watered the young plants in the veg garden, watched an episode of Chelsea, needed to do something so did something with a hot flat thingy in front of Escape to the Country. Then went and helped OH put up a screen, 2m x 5m on the barn which doesn't have any walls, then finished weeding the shrub bed. It was full of baby brambles and ivy. How did they get there?

It was warm today, summer dress weather but not quite as hot as the last couple of days.
