Good morning Rosie, Biglad, Debs, Ante and Ruby.
Rosie, the dawn chorus at this time of year is wonderful. I love listening to it.
Biglad, I bet that being in your garden was a refreshing change from the laptop headache.
Debs, I am glad that you enjoyed your brief visit to L'pool. Is your son settled now? I do smile when I read about Graham and his 'territory'. Hope you manage to make it tortoise proof!
Ante, that weather is dreadful but when I look at my forecast for next week all the evening temperatures are in single figures, so colder even than you! Monday night the coldest at 5°C. Brrrr!

    Morning Rubee and LB.

LB, 5℃ is very cold for May, but we will survive😁. This year vegetables season will come little bit later, but better than last year drought.

Morning all you early birds. Sun is out but it feels a little chilly out. Just taken the plants out of the greenhouse to harden off and there's a bit of wind blowing.
Nothing planned for today so will spend some time in the garden.
Rosie, steaming the kitchen floor is turning out to be a bit of an expensive nightmare for you...another problem. Fingers crossed you can find an electrician.....they seem to be very few where we live .....we needed one when we first moved and they were like hens teeth.

For Rosie, to cheer her up....

  • Hazel thank you, lovely blooms.  Ante I shall enjoy my Baileys.  Glad the potato plantings done, rather a big job.

Had a gentle day so far. I've potted on 14 of my verbena bonariensis seedlings into 4 inch  pots, they're doing really well I have to say. Beginners luck! The one we bought last year and which hasn't shown any signs of growth has suddenly decided it's got competition and has sent up wee bits of green now. Typical when we bought one last week and I have planted it out next to it😬 We'll have two monsters  now during the summer.....with a bit of luck🙂
Have had Lily's TV on and all dried outside. It's quite close here, we've had to come indoors as it's a bit too warm for us🫣🙂

Good afternoon all. What super pictures of your lovely plants Hazel. They have cheered me up no end as well. Like you, I have had Lily's TV on and the wet cloth things are dancing in the breeze - supported by those clever little wooden holders. Of course the sun has disappeared!
I went to fill up the 'yet again empty' bird feeder and as I lifted it down from its hook, imagine my surprise when a teeny mouse leapt out of it, over my arm and down onto the ground! I think it had used a clematis stem to access the feeder. I have moved the stem away.
My NDN have moved their cars away from the side of the house as they have got starlings nesting in their roof and they just love leaving their 'calling cards' liberally splattered all over. Mine gets a few too.

Afternoon all,  Feeling a bit jaded this evening.  Went to the Malvern Show yesterday and I must say I was a bit disappointed.  Hardly any show gardens and the floral tent didn't have as many exhibitors as usual.  Also it smelt awful, don't want was going on but the inside of the tent smelt like a mixture of off fish and public toilets.  Couldn't bear to stay inside for very long.
Despite being tired today I have managed to fill and plant up 6 of my pots, tie in the climbing rose and mow/edge the lawn.
I was sitting in the garden when I noticed that one of the fence panels was bright orange and much tattier than the old one.  To add insult to injury my climbing rose had been twisted.  The rose isn't fixed to the fence it's on anchor wires that attach to the concrete post.  Went to the house behind to ask what had happened re the panel and received a mouthful for my trouble.  I know the fence is not mine but it would have been nice to have been warned that the panel was to be changed after all I had paid for half of it the last time it was replaced, even though I didn't have to.  I should have known better, he is a really vile man.  Still, I don't like upsetting conversations.
Hope everyone is OK and enjoying the improvement in the weather.
