Another warm start to the day, with a little more high cloud (there was none at all yesterday). We may, or may not, get a thunder storm this afternoon, as the forecast can’t be very precise. To be honest, the ground could do with a good soaking, but through the night would be preferable 😁.
I might potter in the garden today, but it depends how hot it gets. Yesterday, we just enjoyed being in the garden, reading our books.
It sounds as if everything went off very well yesterday at your sisters @Busy-Lizzie. The weather was perfect for it.
Morning all. LB, those cactus are wonderful, and they look so big. You definitely have the cacti fingers. The plumber has done a good on the loo too. Are you happy with it? It looks very smart and I reckon the handle is much easier to push down than those two little buttons on the modern ones. I've just found out, since getting rheumatism, that they can very really hard to push done when the fingers don't work properly. Ante, of course things fall into the basket when at gc's 😂 ...even when not needed🤭 Ive found some new homes for my many VB seedlings, thankfully and I've planted two more round the back of some borders in the back garden. Cold frame is emptying nicely now. No scorching weekend for us, which I'm thankful for but not a great deal to do in the garden now. Having sad that, I think OH may start painting the shed today...Forrest Green instead of chocolate brown. It will be a change. Busy, glad you've had a ( busy) but wonderful time at the lunch to teatime party at your sisters. It must have been packed out and how well your sister had catered for the millions!
Good morning everyone .There were four magpies squabbling in the garden this morning .They knocked my bowl of pansies over and smashed one of my little pots with a succulent in .I had a visit from them yesterday but they only turned one pot over . Mustn’t complain they are beautiful birds but I wish they would play in the middle of the patio. While I have been working in the garden these last few days I have heard something moving around amongst the foliage. It’s not a cat .I will be keeping an eye open to see if I can see it .Have a lovely day folks. Hazel has your injection started working yet?
Red Maple, oh-oh, mysterious rambler in the rushes?😬😊 Wonder what it is? 😬 What a shame about your damages made by the magpies, they sound like a rowdy rabble and most unwelcome. The steroid injection doesn't appear to be working, unfortunately but am seeing the specialist in a couple of weeks so will discuss it with him. Bit disappointed really. Thanks for asking. Busy, well done to your grandson, such an achievement. He's done very well.
I’ve had a sleep and then pottering. Warm and sunny out. LB I’ve not seen cacti quite so beautiful. Popped round to see Rubee who’d accidentally showered herself with the hose while watering and she’s in the shower. The cats are gathered on the bed lounging and I’ve had a refreshing cup of tea. Rosie
Good afternoon all. What a steamy day here. Too hot to work in the garden so I'll join @Red maple in just soaking up the warmth. The heavy rains last night and this (very early) morning will have saved me a task later on.
@debs64 have you enjoyed your gardening. You can always pretend when you are deadheading that the flowers are your horrid colleague.
Well done @Ante1. Petunias and marigolds are so pretty.
@Busy-Lizzie you sound to have had a wonderful time at the party - hope it managed to chase the 'blues' you felt at the funeral away and many, many congratulations to your grandson - you must be bursting with pride.
@Songbird-2 I think you have muddled Red maple up with Ruby. I think a forest green shed will look lovely. I wanted a handle Hazel for one of those reasons you mentioned. Sometimes my fingers are a bit painful, depressing those buttons but the main reason was I far prefer the look of a handle. I am so sorry to hear that, as yet, the steroid injection isn't working - its well after 12 hours now so I can understand your disappointment.
Ruby, every time I see magpies in my garden I rush out to chase them away. They are only trying to see if they can ambush an unwary youngster when they come to the bird feeders.
Rosie, are you absolutely sure that Ruby wasn't just cooling herself off with the hose?? I'm enjoying a refreshing cup of tea myself at the moment.
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
If any one wants to cool down, just come along and have a sit in our back garden. There's a brisk breeze and plenty of shade😕 OH has had a change of plan, he has decided to tackle the new doors instead of painting. Oops, sorry if I've got folks mixed up again, but you know me , I'm always doing that.🫢☺️ I wish I could do some knitting 🧶🧶
We've finally had some rainfall but it stopped almost as soon as it started. The much advertised thunderstorms haven't landed on us yet. Forecast (again!) for the next couple of hours. Feels close enough so fingers crossed!
Hi folks, Lovely day here today but we did have a lot of rain last night so the front garden was just right for weeding this morning. Got up early to miss the hottest part of the day and got quite a bit done. Hubby has managed to mend a leak we had from the upstairs loo. Clean water thankfully but it's still made a mess of the kitchen ceiling. He was quite pleased with himself as he hasn't managed to do much round the house since his stroke. Think it was the idea of a plumbers bill that did it. Hope everyone is OK.
