Afternoon all. What a morning we've had. I was woken up by the phone ringing quite early on. It was the hospital advising that the specialist had recommended I have a steroid injection for this current flare up. So that's been arranged for tomorrow morning. Then, as I was washing, I noticed the bathroom sink was backing up. Great, we now have a blocked sink. We've tried before to clear this and it's a mission ( not a successful one the last time) so we've called the plumber to come and have a look at all the pipe work in both bathroom and kitchen as we're always having trouble with it. Fed up with it all. After nearly five years I want it sorted out once and for all. Plumber  can't come before nextbTuesday so that'll be interesting to sort out....washing in the bath?!😱We'll both have bad backs by then😕 Gawd.......
A rather sleepless night but made it to the appmt on time although had dozed off but had 20 mins to spare. Â Red Maple sounds interesting. Â LB enjoy time with bestie, Â a rather cool one wearing a mohair cardigan under my jacket. Â Rosie
Rubee, what great news. So good to hear your OH is responding to the treatment. I bet you're both sighing a sigh of relief. Fingers crossed it continues. Red Maple, that sounds a lovely place for a visit. Sounds a bit like Fountains  Abbey. Just ruins really but the perimeter stones and walkways around it are beautiful and also atmospheric. Glad you had a great day. We are due some high temperatures over the weekend so we're going to get done what needs doing ( in prep for plumber) tomorrow as we don't do too well in extreme heat....except sit still😂ðŸ¤
Busy, safe journey tomorrow. A weekend of festivities awaits which should cheer things up a little. OH has cut front lawn this afternoon whilst I've  had a good matter with next door neighbour. I may even have got rid of some of the VB seedlings( which are growing like mad now) once it goes through ok with his partner🙂 They are getting their drive redone in five weeks time, that should be interesting given we're both on the corner of a cul-de-sac. Not much room for parking.
Good afternoon all. Had a lovely time with Bestie and getting rid of a car boot full of clutter to theSue Ryder shop was very gratifying.
All systems go Busy. You will be quite excited now and I've no doubt that meeting up with family members will be most comforting. The long drive to the ferry will soon be forgotten.
Red maple, thank you so much for all the information about your trip. I have never visited Roche Abbey but, like Hazel, I have been to Fountains Abbey. I really enjoy soaking up the ambience at places such as these. Roche Abbey has gone on my 'to do' list.
Ruby, I am so pleased to hear that, finally, your OH is getting signs of some improvement. Long may this continue.
Thank goodness, Hazel, that you got the response you needed from the hospital - even if the early call was a disturbance! Nipping things in the bud is the best form of attack. Sorry to read that you are having the drainage problem again. If you had a little pump - like those you can get for watter butts - you could still have your baths and pump the bath water out when it was cool. Then you could either use the water on your garden or pour it down your toilet. I cannot believe you have been in your house 5 years! Where has that time gone? Hope the plumber works his miracles on Tuesday.
Rosie, it was a lot warmer today than the last two days so no cardigans needed here but the temperature is falling now. Lily's TV has just finished so I'm going to make the most of the last of the sun and the stiff breeze here to get the wet cloth things dry.
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
It's just the bathroom sink that's blocked, LB. From there to the bath. Bath is ok as it goes in a different direction. I put some soda crystals down the sink earlier on and lo and behold! it's unblocked the sink, marvellous! Took hours but it's worked .Still want it looking at though plus the kitchen sink pipe work. Glad you've got rid of all your overflow of clutter, it's a wonderful feeling getting rid of it, isn't it? Ive just watered the front garden, it was as dry as bones. Noticed the holly tree is full of aphids and ants. They all got a good watering and swooshing off🙂
I swear by soda crystals Hazel. Funny you mentioning aphids as all my dustbin lids are sticky with their honeydew. The ants will be 'farming' them for this. I just need a hundred of my namesakes to start having an aphid fest.

If you've any spare LB, send some over here😉 I've noticed the honeydew on lots of leaves too, sticky with it. I'm signing  off for this evening. Have a pleasant evening.Â
You're right @Songbird-2 - I have been playing a bit of golf recently. Even managed a long weekend away last weekend.
I'm going to finish this job in 2 weeks time. The Wrap Party is next Friday so I'll do a week after that. Nobody has given me an end date, even when I asked the question, so I've decided my own!Â
Can't believe how little rain we've had in the last few weeks. Big cracks have opened up in areas of my garden and the back lawn is parched. A couple of the thundery, overnight showers forecast for the weekend might be quite welcome.
