Good morning Forkers and a Happy Easter for those who celebrate either religiously or with a family meal. Ā (and both)!!

Slow cooked lamb here @Busy-Lizzie    A recipe using tamarind paste and spices as a marinade/rub.    Smells divine!   3 hours at 130°C.  Roastie vegetables and green beans to accompany.

Weather fine here in this part of the world. Ā

A pleasant and enjoyable day to you all.
I wouldn’t mind having that recipe, it sounds pretty amazing!
    I’ve no idea what I’m doing.Ā

Happy Easter all, hope everybody has enjoyed their day, whatever you've been doing.

More gardening for me although the weather hasn't been quite so nice as the last few days, bit breezy/cloudy. Still, I managed lots more weeding in the back garden on my hands and knees whilst OH cut the lawn edges.Ā

I also had to re-wash a very large, old cotton curtain because the laundry tab hadn't dissolved properly atĀ  the low temperature yesterday. Keep forgetting to use liquid in the new machine for those washes. I really don't know why I'm bothering to wash them before taking them to the charity shop but thought I'd ought to. It's been a real pain getting them dry as they are so huge.

Pleased to hear Rob's getting more mobile @Dovefromabove, must make life much easier for you and his sister.

It would be brown sauce on sausages for me as well @Punkdoc. We had more Hot Cross buns for elevenses this morning. Roast lamb for us tonight. I bought a whole leg of lamb on Sainsbury's special offer so first I have to chop it in half. That will do us for two weeks Sunday roast.

Evening all,Ā  Lots of gardening today, after taking Secondborn to the airport.Ā  She's off for a few days in the sun with her partner.Ā  She had the boys last week and this week they are going with their dad to visit their Grandma in the lakes.Ā  Firstborn has flown off to their villa on Menorca and I have a whole week with no Nanna duties and hopefully lots of gardening.Ā Ā  :)
Made the lawn a bit smaller again today and mowed it.Ā Ā
Hi from Kingswinford in the West Midlands
  • Good evening all,

Enjoying your chatter, everyone seems to be in good spirits and doing lots of interesting stuff for the weekend.Ā

After my week away it's been back to earth with a jolt, so busy, and the weather's been lovely, always brings people out.Ā

Charlie and his dad have gone to Italy, I'm worried of course, given his dad's health issues, but he assured me he's fine and will take it steady. I'd really hate for Charlie to have to deal with an emergency, but he was also so looking forward to the trip I felt I couldn't intervene. They are travelling by train, 3 days in each place so hopefully not too stressful.Ā

I am 'house sitting' at his dad's house, looking after the cat. Chance to escape CdeG which is nice too.Ā

Nothing absolutely signed and sealed yet, but house purchase is moving forward and the owners are considering my request to rent from them whilst the paperwork is dealt with. A chance to clean it out, get on top of the garden and just have a bit of away time from CdeG. Luckily, we have mutual friends who are willing to vouch for me, so I'm really hoping that will happen. Sadly, the mother died this week, so there's another level of succession paperwork to be dealt with, which could delay the completion date. I won't mind if they let me rent it, at least I can be in and getting a feel of what needs doing. The garden space is so peaceful, I'm so looking forward to sitting in it after a hard day at work.Ā  Lovely lake view. A lot of tidying up to do, bit that's half the pleasure.

@D0rdogne_Damsel, that could work very well if your Vendors agree, fingers crossed for you.Ā  Try not to worry about Charlie, he's a sensible kind of boy.

Hello, diddyw, I don't think I have been doing any work on behalf of others. Youngest daughter, bloke, and grandkids came round. Told her I wasn't cooking this year. The dining table in conservatory is chocks with seeds and seedlings, not even any room in the greenhouses to put them temporarily for today. I made 2 cakes, and (shock horror) bought sandwiches, nibbles. Had afternoon tea,and Easter egg hunt.

Walked through our rather linear village with OH, longest walk he's done so far. There were several people gardening in their front gardens. I did some gardening when we got back. Seeded some bare holes in the middle lawn and weeded and edged the laurel tree bed. I shifted an astrantia Claret as a polemonium was too close.

    Good morning all.

It's raining. We are going to the SM to get cat food for NDN's cat. Then to a GC as I want to buy some herbs. There is a big old Butler's sink on an old meat safe cupboard on the back patio which I'd like to fill with herbs. Also need some blood, fish and bone.
