Thank you all (once more) for kind words, impartial and sound advice - the car is sold, the cash is in the bank and I'll deal with the consequences later. In the meantime I'll be looking for someone who can take over the website, it really is a hold over me that is just so problematic, for all his offers of help, 'because he can' there's always a hidden price to pay.
Thanks so much.

I agree, @D0rdogne_Damsel, sell your car to the dealer and find someone else to help with the website. This way you are not, in any way, beholden to your ex.
Afternoon all, after waking up to unexpected bright sunshine after a stormy night, I managed to do an hour or so's gardening. Found numerous guara seedlings so dug those up and potted them. Stopped for lunch then the rain started which is still doing so now. Trying to summon up enthusiasm to do the ironing.
@D0rdogne_Damsel, I echo what everybody else is saying, you owe your ex nothing so sell the car and cut as many ties as you can. Poor Charlie, what a drama, glad it was resolved relatively quickly.
@Ergates, I remember being told no lifting or bending after my hysterectomy. Wandered out to the garden three weeks later, saw a weed or two as you do, thought I could manage if I knelt down gently but couldn't then get back up again - marooned - oops! Fortunately OH was within shouting distance and came to the rescue. It was a very frustrating couple of months, fortunately over the winter rather than Spring or summer.
Good evening all, like most of the country we had a dry bright start which actually lasted till about 2pm here but it's been downhill since. Heavy rain and high wind as I type this. Hope the plum and pear blossom can hold on. I got my first early spuds in this morning, of course the ground was a bit sticky, and also planted some beetroot I had in modules. Well done again @D0rdogne_Damsel I agree with the other comments.
@D0rdogne_Damsel after that terrifying episode with your ex and Charlie I'm glad to see that you have sold the car and are planning to find someone else to organise the web site. Well done you. After yesterday's wind, rain, hail and sunshine, in equal parts, today we just had rain until a few hours ago when the forecast gale force winds arrived. Some distance from our house and on a concrete plinth stand two elderly static mobile homes. When we moved into our barn from the main house several years ago we filled these two statics with several bits of unused furniture and boxes of papers, old kids toys etc. The strongest static took all the important stuff and the other took all the 'extra's that should be sorted and got rid of'. Two hours ago the wind took half of the roof off this van and sent it off across one of the fields to come to rest in the far hedge! Daughter has spent the last hour unrolling a large tarpaulin and fighting to get it inside the van to cover as much as she can to protect from the rain. No use trying to use the tarp outside as it is huge and would probably have taken off too possibly carrying her off with it. Unfortunately my current state of health (and age) has prevented me from offering help - so frustrating. Luckily not to much of great importance in the van, but we were looking towards the summer to get both vans cleared out completely and gone. Of course the wind has now dropped and the other static van is still holding up. A memorable end to a bank holiday weekend!
Well done, @D0rdogne_Damsel! Great progress. Had to laugh at that, @Lizzie27! Can’t lean over or bend without insides feeling as if they are about to make a run for it. However, Waitrose keep their decaf ground coffee on the lowest shelf, and I thought I would probably be ok if I knelt down to raid the shelf. Of course I couldn’t get up again, especially with my hands full of bags of coffee. Took me a few goes before I could get upright again, but next time I’ll go and find someone to assist me! Rained all afternoon, so I sat with a book and my feet up.
