Hello there everyone. I've had a few hours in the garden today - after I had Lily's TV on. All cloth things dried and stashed away. I have had to remove a lot of nettles - they just pop up randomly. Where they were I will plant out my Jerusalem artichokes once they are little bit bigger. I then watered all the stuff I have in the GH before calling it a day. Don't want to risk upsetting my back again. I noticed that every scrap of the alpaca wool I put out has disappeared. Probably keeping some tiny hatchlings nice and snug now. The birds looked like they had viva zapata moustaches as they flew off with beaks full.
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
Rosie, I hope that Alfie isn't as fussy as Lily about his food - she is a nightmare. Only likes one type. She will lick up all of the gravy and leave the lumps for later - or not at all as the mood takes her. Luckily I leave a permanent dishful of the full diet biscuits which she does eat so I know she is getting her nutrition.
I meant to say the other day that I have finally got signed on at a Dentist. Its only taken 2 years of waiting. I have to go for a consultation first. Me being naive I thought it would have been last week when I spoke with them but no, its on 30th of THIS month. What's a month when I've been waiting 2 years?

Hello Busy, you weren't there when I posted. Glad you are home safe and that the garden has been fairly well behaved whilst you have been away. Will you be catching up with Patrick? I would love to know how Caesar (?) the donkey is getting on. I love French markets, we always try to fit at least one in when we are in La Londe.

Evening all. Had a good day getting myself " ready" for next week. At least it makes me feel better when home is in order. Had Lily's TV on too and all dried outside.
Meant to say,the other day OH was in greenhouse to water the plants in there. He found the water wasn't coming out of the watering can ( which is one of those small ones) so thought a leaf or two had got stuck down the spout. He got a cane and shoved it down......and out popped a huge slug, yuk!π±π¬ 'Fraid it's gone to slug heaven now but have never had that happen before. How it's got up onto the bench, slithered up the can and found the spout, urgh, goodness only knows. So we know , both check the spouts of all watering cans before we use themπ¬
Busy, pleased to hear you're back home and that the garden isn't too bad. Don't overdo things though, there will be plenty for you to do so pace yourself.
LB, good to hear you're behaving yourself tooπ€π Do a bit, rest a bit and then give up and restπ Good news about the dentistπ
Rosie, do you have one of those box type shoppers which you put shopping in and then push or pull it ( has four wheels) like a buggy? That would alleviate the need to carry things which may be a bit too heavy .If you've had to drag something back it would definitely help. Hope Alfie is a good boy with his new food.
Debs and Biglad, sounds like you've made good progress out in the garden during your time off other daily things. Debs, when will you be starting your hanging baskets?Β
Evening allπ Will be docking soon at Harwich so that's another holiday done and dusted. Been to some lovely places and enjoyed a personal guided tour in the museum in Hildersheim from an American now living in Germany. He seemed to be delighted to have somebody to chat to in English and I was very pleased to receive lots of insights into the collection.Β
Sunday was warm and sunny so OH did a 'leg stretcher' cycle ride of 60 miles. I pottered in to town on my bike and enjoyed an ice cream and looking round a bank holiday gathering of vintage vehicles. Yesterday we went for a final session in a sauna - probably one of the best we've been to.
Glad you've finally got a dentist LB and glad Debs fiance is getting a work plan together.
@Busy-Lizzie - did you see that our favourite fish restaurant in Southwold was one of several properties damaged / destroyed in a big fire at Southwold harbour early Sunday morning?π’ Hope they are able to get back in business before the busy summer season - they are so popular with the holidaymakers and second homers.
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
Well done Hazel on getting stuck in to unmentionables - did you track down a dry cleaners? By the way, it is snails that get into my watering cans quite regularly and bung up the spout.
Hope that you have had a good crossing T'Bird. Shocking news about the fire at Southwold. That is the last thing those shop owners need.
I am signing out for tonight everyone. Enjoy your evenings and I'll see you in the morning.

LB, yes, found that the dry cleaners I used to use way back when, is still open so will take some of the bigger /heavier and longer curtains there.Β Funnily enough, I can't remember the last time we saw a snail in our garden!βΊοΈ Topbird, safe journey back, glad to hear you've had a good time but doesn't the time pass quickly?Β
Yes @Topbird, Dove was talking about it on the Forkers thread. It's our favourite fish restaurant, we went there quite recently and had a seafood platter. Luckily no one was hurt, but it must be heart breaking for those involved. I hope they have good insurance.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
