    Afternoon all,
a rather chilly and showery day today. Been out this morning but now back home, though we might pop out for tea later.
I should get the hot metal thing out too, but can’t really be bothered. Think it can wait until tomorrow.
Just waiting for the alarm test at 3 now- got the mobile ready 😁.
Hope the day is going well for you all.

    Good afternoon all.
Hazel, 'word' will get around about your bird feeders. Birds are a little suspicious of new items in their environment and will take a bit of time to 'sus' everything out before they decide it is safe. Now one little bluetit has been you will soon get more.
Rosie, I hope that your stiff neck has eased for you. My back and hip are still being a bit of a problem.
Busy, lamb shank sounds delicious. I am sure both of you will enjoy it.
Red maple, my emergency alert was 1 minute late but it was something and nothing to be honest. It begs a question about people who don't have 4G and 5G phones - who lets them know if there is a problem?

Guten Abend an alle aus Deutschland!

We've been here since Wednesday and have been enjoying seeing new parts of East Germany. A day at the sauna on Thurs then time in Weimar Friday at the Bauhaus museum. A day in beautiful, medieval Unesco World Heritage Erfurt yesterday and then a visit to the Buchenwald concentration camp site / museum today. Extraordinarily moving and sobering.

The weather has been kind and was decidedly hot (up to about 23C) yesterday. Still nice today and sat around enjoying a G&T in shorts and T-shirt just now. Forecast to be about 15C cooler by Tuesday though!

I see you've all been busy, busy as usual. LB - sorry to hear you pulled a muscle or similar. Gentle exercises and rest sound about right for you.

BL - glad you have an appt in France for your problem but what a to-do when you can't get to see a doctor when you need one in the UK.
Out of interest (ie noseiness!) is your OH likely to be affected by the 90 days in 180 ruling for Schengen countries? or is he not likely to spend that much time in France in the future? I'm guessing you have dual nationality so can travel quite freely. It's a pain and something OH (who has other trips to Europe without me) is having to keep an eye on.

Hope everyone else is OK and received your alerts / alarms as expected this afternoon. We obviously didn't receive them as we're not in the UK. Will be interesting to hear if MIL had one. She has an older phone but I think it's still a 4G one so she should have done.

Busy, I've used the hot metal thing now but after having Lily's TV on again this afternoon, there's a fresh pile waiting for me😕
Our emergency alert came one minute earlier than 3pm and it wasn't as jarring as I had expected. All in all it was fine, no problems. We'll certainly be glad of it if it's ever needed.
I turned  over one long border in the garden this afternoon plus half of another. Then the heavens opened so drove me indoors.

  • LB I hope you’re not too uncomfortable tonight.  Topbird a sauna how lovely.  Hazel hope you stayed dry.  Night night everyone.  Rosie

@Topbird, yes OH has to be careful now, thanks to Brexit, when we go to France. He uses a Schengen calculator to work out the 90 days in a rolling 180 days. He will have to go back to England mid-August without me or he won't be able to go to France in the autumn. It's a pain in the neck. I'll visit my family when he's not there. I have dual nationality so not a problem for me.

We didn't get an alert as OH's phone doesn't have a signal and mine is French.

We must get up early tomorrow as OH has an appointment with his surgeon. I had better go to bed. Night night.

Topbird, we posted at about the same time, you weren't there when I posted last. Glad to hear you made it safely and are enjoying the benefits of sauna's  and visiting interesting places. Mind you, the concentration camp would have been very sobering as you said. I think I would be too upset to go to one, I would follow in the footsteps and be overwhelmed with emotion I fear. Poor souls. You're having decent weather too which is always a bonus. Wrap up on Tuesday although that is a nice temperature for me!😂
Busy, hope your Oh's appointment goes well tomorrow.
Rosie, I got back inside the house just in time thanks! Hope you have had a nice day today and that Alfie continues to be happy and well. Hope Rubee and OH sleep okay tonight.
Im signing out for tonight. Night all.
  • Morning all.  Already dressed, winter jumper on in readiness for a few chilly days.  Hazel i had my phone turned off so missed the alert yesterday but apparently those with phones on received a text.  Time for tea.  Hope you’re all snoozing.  Rosie

Good morning Rosie and all to follow.

LB, thank you very much for the lovely cartoon from last night. 😜 Hope you had restful night.

    Rosie, not winter jumper again.

It's all prepared for school, so I can sit and have my tea. Last night I ordered food for my pets, and it should arrive in two or three days. It's raining again.

Wish you all a nice and hope sunny and warm day.
