I was going to suggest in the magazine rack/basket. That's where I found our previously lost pair of scissors. Turned out I'd used them to cut some puzzles from the newspaper, to take on holiday. Seems I left the puzzles in the same place!!! Sigh.
@rowlandscastle444, we don't have a maggy rack but we do have two footstools with lids. Looked in there, under furniture, cutlery drawer, under stairs cupboard( where they should never be) and all sorts of weird and wonderful other spaces. Even checked the outside bin! Nothing......grrrr
The other two places I find stuff. 1. Under the dogwood in the garden - a location for cutlery, thrown out with the washing-up water. 2. The compost heap - tend to find stuff a year later!!
Hazel - you know they're going to turn up somewhere really odd don't you. My best one was finding the car keys in the fridge.... I now have a tracking doo-dah on my car and house keys so I can see where they are if I've left them somewhere or make them play a little tune when they've been mislaid in the house. Use it rather more often than is desirable.
LB - you live in a different world to us rural beings🤣 I was really chuffed that we could get 37Mbps when broadband arrived in the village about 3 years ago. Before that it was 6 - but even that was a vast improvement on our previous house where we averaged 1.1. We'll get access to fibre or cable internet when we get access to mains gas - ie on the 12th of Never.
A shame that the UK isn't getting on faster with 5g coverage. It's all over in Germany and a couple of nights ago we achieved 226Mbps on our mobile data! Makes life much easier.
Just back from a long session in a rather good sauna / spa - well and truly baked, steamed and poached now. Feeling nice and warm - hope it lasts - forecast to be a high of 9C tomorrow🥶
Debs - so sorry your OH is going to have to give up his job but it does sound the right thing to do. Hope he finds something to give him a better work / life balance.
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
Topbird, are you fried or boiled?😂 Yes, I know they'll turn up sometimes, somewhere but it's so aggravating at the moment😬 Have heard of those do-dah's , wish they did one for every single thing in the house😂 LB and Topbird, and Busy, when you talk about the broadband Mbps, are you talking about the download speed? Definitely signing out now.Night all.
Morning all. Just had breakfast and a first cuppa. Awake at 5am but had a good sleep beforehand. Hope you’re all rested. Hazel do you have a porch could the scissors be in their opening parcels etc. LB don’t overdo it you’ve strained yourself by lifting the compost, do take care and stretch out your muscles beforehand. Topbird I’ve enjoyed news of your hols, enjoy. Busy you and oh will be glad the hospital visits behind you now. Debs the swing sounds lovely. Ante enjoy school today and enjoy your first cup of tea. I’m ready for my second. Take care all. Lily sending hugs. Rosie
Good morning everyone . Debs I am sorry to read that you OH is going to have to give up his job .Very stressful for him and you as well .TBird I found my washing up liquid in the fridge a few years ago .It’s amazing where we sometimes put things .So pleased that you are having a good holiday. Hazel you will find your scissors perhaps when you are looking for something else . Its a lovely sunny morning here . I am expecting a delivery of a rose today . Have a good day folks .
A very good morning Rosie, Ruby and all to follow. Aaaah the mystery of the missing scissors Hazel. Were you actually using them yesterday before they 'disappeared'? Things like that are so puzzling. Yes, I was talking about download speeds - my upload speeds average at about 20Mb.
T'Bird, you know that you could shrink with all this sauna treatment? Hope the warm feeling lasted. Could do with that myself as it is very frosty here this morning. I cannot believe (though its on the Beeb so it must be true!!) but there is STILL a hosepipe ban in force in Cornwall and parts of Devon.
Ruby I am expecting a plant delivery today as well,
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
When I lost my scissors years ago I bought another pair. I now have about 4 pairs in a pot in the kitchen, one for trimming my hair in the bedroom, one with my sewing things (not to be touched by OH) and one in the sitting room near the fireplace. I hope they turn up, Hazel.
OH has 2 more medical appointments today but I won't go with him. Covid jab at a localish medical centre this morning then Physio this afternoon at the hospital. I'll do the shopping for stuff to take back to France, such as Marmite and golden syrup.
We are going to stay with friends in Wiltshire on Thursday and we take an overnight ferry to France on Saturday.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
