@rowlandscastle444 are you SURE you checked under the dogwood - just in case???
@Ladybird4 Definitely. My wife cut them back, so they're not as large as they could be.
But as for the compost heap - I'm not looking through that right now. 😳
  • Happy to help, Hazel.  Night night all.

    Evening all,

I've had a quick skim. Sad to hear about Len Goodman. He seemed to be a really nice chap. Given his penchant for a certain marking score, he died on what would've been my mother's 77th birthday.

Not scissors but OH temporarily misplaced her glasses the other day. A pretty regular occurrence but she was wanting to go out and needs them to drive. I think it's fair to say she lost the plot :o Despite being advised to slow down, calm down and stop violently searching in the same places over and over again, the meltdown continued. So, having done a search of all the rooms I thought she'd been in since returning home (she wouldn't give me any information as she was too busy frothing at the mouth!), I took my own advice and stopped, stayed calm and thought back. Picturing her when she came in earlier, I didn't think that she had them on. I also remembered that she'd been sitting on her bike at the end of the drive before I went round to collect her bike and put it away (yes - I often feel like her ladyship's man servant ;)) so I deducted that they came off her face sometime between the end of the bike ride and coming through the front door. I went outside, looked behind my car and there they were on the floor. Dopey mare!!!

  • Morning all.  I haven’t had a wink, will try and have a snooze later.  All washed and dressed, breakfast had and cup of tea made.  Biglad go and have a snooze.

Good morning Rosie and all to follow.

Rosie, sorry to hear that you didn't sleep last night. Try to rest today.

This morning I can see clear sky and sun, but still quite cold. As usual, all my pets are fed and now is my turn. Their food should arrive today, delivery sent my message. I bet it will be here tomorrow, or later.

Hope you all will have nice and restful day.

Amaryllis are blooming, despite rain and cold weather.

Good morning Biglad, Rosie, Ante and all arriving later.
Ooh Rosie, that's not good. Hope that you manage to get some sleep through today. Have a cuddle up with Alfie.
Biglad, well done on the Sherlock Holmes work! I sometimes 'misplace' my mobile and end up ringing it from my landline to locate it. I've had to do that for my neighbour as well when he 'lost' his - they don't have a landline.
Ante, a gorgeous picture of your Amaryllis.

Hazel, I finally managed to get a picture of that mysterious plant I told you about. I said it looked as though it was called 'Magpie' but on looking more closely at the label I think the word is possibly 'Magnific'. I am still none the wiser though. The big leaves are almost 30 cm long (a foot in old money!)

I discovered this Clematis yesterday too but the flowers had been badly damaged by yesterday morning's frost.
It is growing close to the ground near the garage wall and I've no idea what one it is!

Hazel - I've had a light bulb moment. I suddenly remembered what my plant is - its Inula magnifica. Phew!

Good morning all. Cool and grey here but at least it’s dry though I heard yesterday some areas still have a hosepipe ban. After all the rain we have had? More forecast here later in the week.
Off today as working Saturday so a day in the garden is on the cards.
Fiancé will hand in his notice today, it’s a shame but it hasn’t worked he is too old to work 60plus hours a week and it’s not getting any better. Not the job he was offered. He is a bit down as he feels he has failed but his health has to come first.
