Good afternoon all. I'm just back from visiting Jack. He is doing well but had forgotten that he needed to alter his clocks last night. I pulled his leg about that! He was waiting for his daughter to come to his with his Sunday dinner. He did have some rather sad news for me though. His next door neighbour, who used to take him fishing for many years, passed away this weekend. He had dementia but I think there may have been another underlying condition as he was diagnosed with dementia last November - still driving then - and it seems too quick after that diagnosis for him to have died through dementia. However, I only have my Mum's case to go on and she lived with dementia for years. Apologies for that grim news.
It is bitterly cold and I keep thinking about Biglad posting his flyers - trying to avoid the vicious letter boxes as well as the possibly vicious dogs waiting to 'punish' his fingers!
Handy brother is getting ready to watch the footie too.

Sad news about Jacks neighbour LB. It does seem pretty quick after the diagnosis but I suppose it may depend on what stage dementia the neighbour had. Poor soul. Hope Biglad is managing his fly posting and his hands are holding up😬 Yvie, you're another one clearing out, it's a good feeling isn't it? Don't be put off by the amount, choose a small section at a time and sort it and then move on. The pile will soon go down. Teachers have been in decline for years now, even prior to my OH retiring and that's yonks ago, doesn't seem to have improved in the meantime. Busy, what a shame you've lost that rose but I think quite a few people have lost plants last year due to the heat. I know we have changed some of our sunny border plants for more drought tolerant plants. Hope you find a replacement. We are all sorted now ready for tomorrow ( apart from last minute stuff) so going to have a relaxing night now.
Sorry to hear about Jack's neighbour @Ladybird4 as you say it does seem quite quick. Hope he didn't suffer and it was peaceful for him. Sad for Jack to loose his friend, hope he's ok.
Stopped raining here, but a bit breezy. Hope @Biglad has dry weather and all dogs are being kind.
@songbird2 safe journey tomorrow. Hope you're mum is well. She will be so please to see you. Your solar lights look lovely.
@Yviestevie I should do some wardrobe sorting, but can't seem to get in the mood for it. There's clothes in there I'll probably never wear again 🤦♀️
Thanks @star gaze lily, we're all set now. Looking forward to seeing mum and the old homestead. So , I'm going to sign out now for a couple a days folks, take care, keep warm, protect your fingers, look after your backs and stay safe. ( Hope Topbird's holiday is going well and she is enjoying the change of scenery and feeling refreshed). See you later everyone.
Have a lovely visit Hazel. See you soon. I am signing out for this evening. See you all in the morning. Lily is completely bemused by the hour change and will take a few days to readjust to her new eating times.

I managed a good stint of delivering the poll cards yesterday. Slightly hampered by folk ringing me and the vagaries of some of the local house numbering eg a 19a from one street being found by going up a longish drive off a neighbouring street, no number 13s on a couple of streets and numbering starting on numbers other than 1
So I didn't quite reach the 700 target - knocked off at 600 so I could watch the football. There should be enough hours of fine weather in the next two weeks to get the job finished without trying to get soggy poll cards through unwelcoming letterboxes.
My new, 'proper' job should really get going this week, unfortunately. Still - it's all pennies in the pot
Good morning Biglad and all to arrive later. You can do it Biglad! You'll be pleased with last night's result? I am off to 'sco in a minute - should be quite peaceful.

Morning Biglad and all. Enjoy having a look around the gardens while delivering the poling cards, you may get some inspiration. I fell asleep yesterday afternoon and didn’t wake up until 12pm, nodded off again and woke up at 3pm. Enjoy your first cup of tea everyone and have a good day. Rosie
Goodmorning everyone . BigLad you will be really fit after your delivering. My girls used to have a paper round ,i used to go with them .It was hard work but we felt fitter .I don’t think I would have been able to deliver the amount of cards you are delivering .Your comfy chair will look very inviting after a delivery .I slept very badly last night, still half asleep.Have a good day folks .
