A very good morning one and all. Well I am hoping to get an early dash to SM and I can see that it is very wet outside. I intend to rest my hip and back as much as possible today so in a way I'm glad.
Nice to read you'd had a lovely day Debs. Hope all goes smoothly at work later.
Sorry to hear that you are having problems with your internet Busy - it can be a real pain in the neck. Hope it gets sorted for you soon before you leave for France.
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
Finally sunny and warm morning. I didn't overslept, but I decided to go with Max to gather wild asparagus. We spent two hours outside, and now is time for tea and breakfast. I'll probably later go to cottage.
We have Internet! Man has just gone. It hasn't been so fast for years. He said our phone cables were probably installed in the 1950s. He hasn't changed the outside one yet, just indoors. He'll be back on Monday to change the outside cable which needs re-routing as it goes through NDN's ivy covered tree. He's put it on the electricity post.
We are going to a country show today. There will be horses, sheep dogs etc. We went last year and enjoyed it. We'll take OH's buggy, it would be too much walking for him and it's somewhere to sit if they are short of chairs to watch the events.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Morning all, starting to dry up a bit here after a very damp start. Need to pot on my tomato plants as they’re looking a bit sad - they’ve outgrown the pots they came in. Will be glad when it’s warm enough to put them outside, but we’re still prone to some very chilly nights here. Glad you’ve got your internet back @Busy-Lizzie. Enjoy the country show - I hope it stays dry for you. Well, I’d better get on. Have a good Saturday everyone.
Hello all. I made my 'sco visit just after seven this morning. It was so nice to be back driving my own car! SM was nice and quiet apart from an obnoxious customer in front of me who was so impatient it wasn't true. There was only one check out lady on duty so things were taking time. Anyway, OC walked towards customer services and bellowed at the top of his voice 'Why can't you get more of these check outs open?' He was so bad mannered and rude - I felt like taking the bottle of vodka out of his trolley and whacking him over the head with it but common sense prevailed. I knew the lady on the check out and we had an eye rolling session as he stamped around muttering. He was obviously at the end of the queue when patience was being given out.
Ruby, it was pouring with rain when I got to the SM but it has eased off now. I hobbled up to the post box with a birthday card when it got drier and now I am definitely having a rest. I meant to take the card down to 'sco but forgot! Discovered my favourite trainers have got a leak as well - boo!
Ante, I love asparagus and am so jealous that you have it growing wild near your walks. Hope that you have a good afternoon at the cottage.
Yay Busy, so pleased that you are reconnected at home to t'internet and that the final snag will be sorted next week. I love country shows too so I'm sure that you will have a great afternoon.
Red maple, it will be a good job done when you pot on your tomatoes. Mine are starting to grow away on the windowsill after me pricking them out in the week. You enjoy your Saturday too.

Afties everyone. Goodness me but we're pooped! We took 23 home at dinner time after taking him into town this morning. He slept through last night as we tired him out( ourselves too). We have now collapsed and having a rest. LB, Im so glad you've happy with your car, it will feel lovely and ' normal' for you. Busy, hope you enjoy the show and the weather is nice and great to know your internet is now better than ever. It's been heavily raining here overnight and today too. Everywhere is drenched but growing madly now. Dahlia, in greenhouse, has finally decided to make itself seen with three bits of green poking through the compost.
Hello Hazel. Ooh thats exciting news about your dahlia. I meant to say yesterday that when I went down to my compost bin I noticed that the dicentra wa coming into flower and it is a pink version so I have ordered a white one from that famous auction site. I had honestly forgotten I had this dicentra as it had disappeared completely over winter. When I read up about them I discovered that this 'disappearance' is natural.
I have to say it has gone very dark here again - more rain possibly?
I had a message from Sameena, Joyce's daughter, and she was telling me that she has finally sold Joyce's house (earlier this month). She said it was sad but a relief. I can understand that.
