@daisym fungi should help the plant if anything.. so not sure what is happening there.. the soil looked a bit moist there.. hope the drainage was ok..

Over 100,000 seedlings and still can't get the fragrance right?? The new rose is a pass for me..

    Thanks @tesongo.
One of my most looked forward to blooming events of the year.
unfortunately I don't know the varieties as we inherited them with the house. They are very mature plants with main trunks of 500mm girth so quite old varieties I would imagine.

Just another day at the plant...

Wow! Your Dannahue looks amazing! Mine doesn’t have that many buds but mine is in a semi-shaded locations. That may have something to do with it…

None of the roses in my garden are blooming yet. Warm Welcome and Kew Gardens are the closest ones to have the first flower.

Thanks @cooldoc The soil was very moist when I lifted the rose. I will empty the pot completely and check the drainage. Perhaps that was the problem unfortunately. However, I have just purchased a new rose - Chandos Beauty - after some very good suggestions from posters here. It is newly potted and not yet ready for planting on but I can get the soil etc ready. Thanks again.
