@alexander.wade - I've got some thoughts for you, I'll post them in a bit when I've had chance to properly read back through. I do have some roses growing in similar locations to the one you've shown in the photo.
I've been to the allotment today and seen how everything's doing. Seem to have lost all of the verbena over winter which is a shame, had a big row of it, it's done so well the last couple of years.
Arthur bell is looking good
I've finished mulching all of the borders at home
One of many buds on Desdemona
Lady of the Lake getting all leafy. She does have great foliage.
@Eustace I recently realised that there are no permanent residents in our gardens.. Robins and other birds that come to us every year could be new ones from Europe or other places..
@WAMS That support will be definitely used by the fat pigeons that I get regularly..
@Nollie oh dear.... petrol instead of Diesel.... I would say that Prince is open already..
@Marlorena I like that twisted sepals on MN.. my early flowerer could be Louis Odier this year.. looks like most roses will be out of sync in terms of blooming.. all are in different stages of development.. on the plus side, hopefully will have something or other in bloom always..
@peteS HC looks better in a pot.. even better when grown as a standard.. Pitter-patter have posted beautiful pics of that rose as a standard.. I must say, it did not feel strongly scented for an Austin..
@JessicaS I tried spent tea powder.. used about a tablespoon full or so for each.. don't think it had much effect..
@Mr. Vine Eye Tadpoles are given VIP treatment in your vid..
@cooldoc It does look great as a tall standard, at least you see the blooms as they should be seen that way. A pot would lift the height a little which would again enable you to see the blooms better. It's a beautiful rose, very floriferous, but I'm afraid it comes with the all too familiar Austin traits.
I'm on bud watch here too. I think they need a few sunny days to show colour and open. Sunday and Monday's windy weather has played havoc with the tender growth. 🥺 These are the broken sections from GJ and CPM alone.
Oxford. The City of Dreaming Spires.
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils (roses). Taking a bit of liberty with Wordsworth
Hi, may I ask, if I use tea around the roses is it ok to put on top of the mulch of well rotted manure I already have on them or do I 'tickle' it in? tia

I like pigeons, @cooldoc. 😁 Evelyn would otherwise have quite boring matte foliage, but see how interesting and variegated it is now, thanks to the pigeons who perch on the fence above.
Buds on so many roses now, more every day. Very happy to see one on Tess, a plant that didn't do much in Year 1 (and I gave away my back-up one, and now it is discontinued... oops).

Haven’t seen any buds here yet, but I did take this pic of city of york on Friday as I was admiring how green and glossy the leaves were!
@zugenie had a two day trip with kids for Easter weekend.. less draining than long trips and luckily weather was in favour..
Lovely shiny leaves, @zugenie!
