Hi @crighton03 , you certainly haven't been sent very good specimens which is shocking given the price of DA potted roses. Have you contacted them? Both yours will be fine in the longterm, I'm not sure if you said what you will do with them but I would pot or plant as soon as possible cutting the dead canes out and honestly I'd cut that bloom off too, it would irritate too much right there taunting me.
Hello @Tack, I've just emailed them actually. It's not like me as I'm happy to accept a plant will grow, but I put off buying BMS despite salivating over it, as yellow roses have emerged as my favourites. If I could have bought it somewhere, else I would have!!
Interesting, @crighton03... disappointing for £30. I was going to get BMS, but I'm less keen if that is what you get.
Just had a chance to look at replacement Penelope Lively.. I see what you mean about the "thornless " description, @Marlorena, haha. I also can't believe they describe this as "best for health." Does a disservice to roses like Eustacia Vye which are genuinely lustrous and disease-free.
I don't understand what's in for DA as they continue to trash their reputation - selling "disease-free and thornless" roses covered in thorns and disease. Thorns aren't something you can disguise and pretend aren't there. I don't get it at all.
I’ve tried placing a TCL order but got kicked out twice, either my internet or heavy site traffic. At the very least I wanted them to replace Versigny and Vichy, plus add a couple of others. I’d probably be sent the wrong roses again anyway, so I’ve decided it’s karma and won’t try again.
Most roses exposed to mid or afternoon sun (or hot stone walls) are miserable and fried but here’s a few that are sheltered from those extremes..

Just had my email from DA. Basically I have to suck it up over the two plants, and apparently it's my own fault as I haven't looked after the BMS! I pointed out that I had to wait to get a pot the right size, which was less than 3 weeks from purchase. In the meantime I had feed with tom food and seaweed, and a few days a slow release rose granule feed. Not buying from them anymore. Two roses from Style arrived today, and son said "three times the size" when I compared one to the PL. I'm really disappointed.
A belated welcome @crighton03 and sorry to hear you got such a shocking response re your BMS. Ridiculous, potted roses can sit in a nursery or DA’s own shop for months before sale. You obviously have looked after them but no amount of care and watering can bring dead canes back to life! As others have said, prune those out and pot them on and they should come good in time. Not something one should have to put up with at those prices though.
@WAMS you are developing a great collection of purple and lavender roses, was admiring your Lavender Ice earlier. There is a new lavender one by Pheno Geno called Adore Aroma that slipped in my TCL basket before it crashed. I was only initially wanting Natalija/Evelyn Wild from them.
Can anyone recommend a good, reliable supplier of Pheno Geno roses in the EU?

What did you get from Style, @crighton03? Sorry you got Bad Cop when you contacted DA...
I hope your roses take off for you.
The very fragrant Silver Shadow from Styles is beginning flush #2 It was a late bareroot purchase in April and spent more than a week held up in the Royal Mail in a heatwave, but has still somehow gone from this to this in that time. I will never find this process anything but incredible.
Just tried a TCL order... Purple Lodge, Blue Girl, Huddersfield Choral Society, Charles de Gaulle, Sophie's Perpetual, Versigny and Cymbeline.

My PL is also studded with nasty thorns @WAMS
Buff Beauty.. slow grower for me but it is in the shade
Penelope Lively... I love it, but then I love Princess Alexandra of Kent. It is just like PAoK but half the bloom size.
Blackberry Nip
Lavender Ice (little plant with big blooms)
