@salo.daria RJ does ball, not awfully. I’ve got a few brown blobby balled blooms at the moment but this summer has been non-stop rain. I can’t say I’ve ever noticed it before.

It’s nowhere near as bad as Bathsheba, she’s a mess!
@Mr. Vine Eye, couldn't resist it in the end :) such a lovely colour. Thank you!

Does anybody use an electric blower for their paths and patios? I loathe the petrol ones with a passion because our neighbour uses his deafening one for hours every week but I was thinking that the petals would be easily dislodged by a less powerful thing and I might not have to move everything like I do currently to sweep the patio, petals do collect in the narrow areas.

I dislike those noisy ones too @Tack and was determined never to own a leaf blower.  However, after much deliberation I bought a combined leaf blower/vacuum which is easy to convert between each function. It has a slow speed as well as a fast speed. It's not overly noisy and certainly not as noisy as the petrol equivalents. I find it very handy for clearing up the leaf litter from bamboo in particular, especially on my patio as it's difficult to sweep out from the recessed mortar between flags!  Many suppliers of battery operated garden tools have them.  Mine is from Stiga - I noticed Monty using one of their hedge trimmers on last week's programme!  There are many others.

Edited to add - if you don't need the vacuum function, there's a smaller, lighter and quieter leaf blower available too.

fab shot of the bee.. I've never seen that before in such detail..
gorgeous roses too..  Eustacia Vye has been invaded by leaf rolling sawflies, they cause this damage.. I have found this rose more than any I have, to be plagued by these..
