Just picked up 'All my loving' and a standard 'Chandos Beauty' in a sale. £20 for both. I've not grown a standard before, have a large pot for it but is there anything else I should be aware when potting it up?
Quick walk about today and here's what's happening.
Like you @Eustace I love the pre-opening bud of Lady of Shalott, and ours is beginning its second flush:
Next to it are some rather lovely Dahlias:
The Lark Ascending mid-way through its second flush - absolutely love this rose:
The Unknown Yellow still giving it loads:
Princess Anne, at the front door about to join in with her second flush - as is Gertrude Jekyll at the back door (now fully recovered from the sawflies)
Meanwhile the Rainbow Border is supplying us with some interesting non-roses: The first is a misnomer - it was labelled Lilium Cali, but it doesn't look white to me! and the second is my treasured Cardoons - stately at 7ft at the back of the border.
Hope you all enjoy. BTW @Marlorena I swear your pictures are even better with your new camera phone.
@Vh72's Golden Beauty / South Africa, wow! @ElbFee I love your roses. @Tack really regretting not buying Savoy Hotel now.
@JessicaS here is Happy Couple from Styles. I don't know how much of the pink here is rain/watering damage, but it's a very cute rose. From the same breeder, Kathryn Alnwick Boscobel Dahlia Thomas A. Edison Chandos Beauty Heritage A Shropshire Lad
@Janie B my Lady of Shalott flopped a lot till I put it on this obelisk after a couple of seasons. I don't tie it in as much as I probably should but it is propped up a bit now and about 5ft high. The flowers are much more visible. My friend has hers against a fence and it is neater.
