@Janie B - Lady of S as Marlorena points out can be grown as a free standing shrub with no support as it forms a well shaped shrub. You can also grow it up a standard obelisk without it swamping it like a true climber would. I bought it for the latter as I wanted a healthy, strong flowering rose for an obelisk that won't quickly overwhelm it.
@ElbFee yes the repeat is sooo slow on Chandos for me too. Mine is looking ready to go again finally……
I bought Blue Moon and Twice in a Blue Moon in the spring and can’t tell much difference between them in terms of the latter being an improvement. Blue Moon:
Removed all the blackspot leaves from double delight in front garden, week later all the other leaves are covered in it. Golden Beauty today, one stem.
I'm not sure about the difference between Blue Moon and Twice in a Blue Moon either @Alfie_ One Twice died over winter , ( placed in the ground as a bare root in spring) the other one planted at the same time is alive but a bit weedy. The replacement Twice ( that was sent after the first blooms opened and it appeared to be one of each instead of two Twice) is healthier. The removed Blue Moon was put into a pot, and I still haven't found a home for it yet, and seems sturdier than the ones in the ground, just less stems. All in all if you looked at them all there is little difference in leaf, stem or flower. 🤔🤷♀️
Lovely photos everyone. Some roses I had and see here make me wonder if I should rebuy them, like your Generous Gardener @Mr. Vine Eye. Some roses I have and just need to figure out the local name. Like Eisvogel is the same as 20th Anniversary and Gräfin Diana is Dark Desire. Oh well.
As always, threatened with culling, roses gear up. But this one is gonna go 100% although there are 9 buds. More than I had in all prior years together. Very tough to photograph, the petals are like mother of pearl.
I am utterly delighted overall with second flush. Is it due to the torrential rain or the fertilizer or both? I wish my roses would tell me. Reine des Violettes has never rebloomed for me before. I had cut it back by 1/3 after the first flush leaving only bare stems basically. Look now, just wow.
Love, love, love this myrrh scent blended with loads of honey. Bees love it, too. And, wonder, the foliage is fine despite the rain and the following very humid days.
Much room for improvement for Rhapsody. Hardly any blooms, not healthy either. That's why it covers its face.
