..we look forward to seeing those Daniel.. with some glee I might add..
@Athelas oh that's another lovely combo.. the purple alliums and yellow roses, which look a bit like 'Vanessa Bell'..
@Rojas Your Constance Spry... I mean, what can one say ? not to forget all the other wonderful roses in your garden..
@ElbFee Great selection, some we wouldn't know here, but always good to hear about them.. Yes 'Indigo' repeats very well, it turns more pink in August, but is quite a disease resistant rose too..
Lovely rose photos everyone! Mine are still not there yet. Chandos has finally awoken though with this enormous first bloom:
Scent is just unreal. Definitely contends with Gertrude which is also coming along well now:
Not sure how well GJ is coping all that well in the heat though. How have others found theirs on this hot weekend?
Well Being not out but the buds on this are one of the very few that are almost as good as the blooms:
Scent is very strong but annoyingly varies from 0/10 with no scent to 10/10 and not sure what causes this. Chandos and GJ on the otherhand are constantly the same, intense fragrance. @Oliya, searching through the forum I see you have it - do you find the scent varies this dramatically?
I’ve read that Graham Thomas is one of the most shade tolerant roses. In your experience is that true?
and again, could a rose thrive in shade, meaning less than 2 hours of full sun a day?
…a bit late…I planted a Kew Gardens aftter seeing Marlorena’s a few years ago. It’s in a north facing front garden to go with hydrangea Annabels. it’s under a towering pyracantha/receives little sun but flowers very well Will take a photo and post it.
These are new for me, Pelargoniums. Got them from Scampston Walled Garden - they take cuttings from their collection in the glasshouse. These are all scented leaf ones. Rose and balsam. I’d really like a citrus scented one too. I saw a Mabel Grey cutting there once and that was gorgeously scented (looking online it’s meant to be one of the best) but unfortunately I dithered and said I’d buy it on the way out. Of course it wasn’t there anymore.
Ones I did manage to get - Vandersea, Attar of Roses and Royal Oak
Beautiful pictures, all. @Elbfee really lovely shot of "La Paloma"
@Mr. Vine Eye those pelagorniums look good. @pitter-patter has some beautiful ones. I like them and enjoy the flowers on the windowsills over the winter.
Thank you for the extra Stanwell Perpetual pictures, @LateralBreaks. Divinely beautiful.
Lady Emma Hamilton has arrived and it is very special. The scent is strong but it is the intensity of the colour that took me by surprise.
Evelyn really is delightful. I see why you needed two, @newbie77 😀 Kathryn. Unfortunately unscented, Elbfee As is Birthday Girl, very cheerful and healthy in a darker corner. Looks like painted porcelain when the sun does get to it. Rachel is finally giving some scent! Very pleasant. Jacqueline du Pré... very delicate beauty
Winchester Cathedral doing its "I identify as Mary Rose" thing Eustacia Vye is much better this year. Intense apricot tones. The first bloom here is about to shatter but made it to the seven-day mark, so it is lasting longer now.
A couple of older ones are about to get going.
Queen of Denmark, being thrown out by a friend and which @Marlorena's post about the rose convinced me to keep. So many buds!
Bouquet de la Mariée, an 1858 rose that is opening beautifully. Kinda has that Earth Angel look, but this appeals more to me personally. The scent is good Ferdinand Pichard has my favourite buds of all. Gorgeous bud there on WB, @Alfie_ Tried to take a pic of this monster foxglove before it went over, but failed to get the top in. It is just over 7ft tall.
@WAMS great pictures. Excited for my Queen of Denmark now. Please could you tell me the specific cultivar for that foxglove if you know it? Very tall pink foxgloves are one of my all time favourite plants. I don't so much like the short ones. Yours is spectacular.
Thank you. I think they are just plain old digitalis purpurea, @Alfie_ self-sown there, so God / Mother Nature must take the credit here! They probably benefitted from the Vitax Orgnaic Rose Food given to the roses on either side of them.

Ok, that's more than I thought. I keep some strugglers/one cane wonders though, I should get rid of them.
