I did keep trying to @WAMS 😁 but scent is subjective and not everyone's perception is the same. I hate the scent of sweetpea and lavender for example, but BfY is a heady thing walking past this is glorious.
Can anyone identify this rose? Sorry the photos are not very good. It is from Rousham in Oxfordshire. Most of their roses are not open yet, but this one was and has a fantastic old rose fragrance. Bonus photo of the knot garden and dove cote.
Olivia, excuse the blurriness Minerva 'Eyes for You' keeps flowering in hard to see spots 'Plaisanterie' It has the same colour variability as its parent 'Mutabilis', the growth habit comes from the other parent, 'Trier'. Individual blooms don't last long. Produces attractive clusters of tiny hips, good for autumn arrangments. Drive border 'Gertrude Jekyll' Clematis 'Nelly Moser' 'Ebb Tide'
Wonderful pictures everyone. A bit of warmer weather seems to have made a difference for quite a few of your roses by the look of it. Here's mine from today...
Rhapsody in Blue.
Julia's rose, a much paler colour now compared to the dark fawn it was two days ago when it was starting to bloom.
Autumn damask/ Quatre Saisons/ damescena bifera with its usual muddled petals.
Don't grow up - grow sideways.
Gardening in the West Midlands on a mix of neutral loamy sand & Victorian building rubble.
Thankyou @cooldoc . I ordered my rose from Harkness in 2021. What a shame about the lack of scent in the one you received. Some amazing roses on this thread! Mine still in bud. Glorious weather in the south so it should help.
Sorry to witness the demise of the forum. 😥😥😥😡😡😡I am Spartacus
