    Marlorena just missed your post about GdF, thanks. I did start pruning back to a new bud/set of leaves, but as you say, there are so many it gets tiresome and also a bit hairy on the stepladders in a raised bed. No shortcuts, then, oh well, out with the stepladders it is! Edited to say, thanks to Eustace too.

    @Marlorena, not sure of the variety that you have but there is a pink Phygelius in my garden and it is very hard to get rid. It has suckered all over the border for several meters.

    ..thanks.. yes they can be a nuisance, I had one years ago that did that.. but it's unlikely it'll stay here that long.. I remember seeing it popping up everywhere.. I'll probably keep it for this year and perhaps the next..  thanks though, I just love the colour for my hot dry border..
