@Nollie GdF needs to be pruned to the next set of 5 leaves to rebloom.
A few photos from today: Louise Odier - heady scent 😊 First bloom on Penelope; bought it as bareroot this year after seeing it posted here. Hope it reaches the exuberance of @Lizzie27's plant in a few years. Sweet Honey perking up. Thanks @pitter-patter for the beautiful pictures you shared of this rose.
Tess of the d'urbervilles Crocus rose - I had to take this picture with the camera upside down as the flowers are all looking downward in this plant.
Jude the Obscure - another strongly fragrant rose. I think I might have to prune all the branches touching the ground and pot them up for @Oliya and @cooldoc. Golden Beauty 😍 Eustacia Vye, Munstead Wood. The Pilgrim (pardon me for the clutter in the background 🥺) Timeless pink Wymondham Abbey - no scent, but attractive pink colour. The Churchill rose Very little rain here yesterday, though could hear ⛈️ Hope it rains soon.
Oxford. The City of Dreaming Spires.
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils (roses). Taking a bit of liberty with Wordsworth
Marlorena just missed your post about GdF, thanks. I did start pruning back to a new bud/set of leaves, but as you say, there are so many it gets tiresome and also a bit hairy on the stepladders in a raised bed. No shortcuts, then, oh well, out with the stepladders it is! Edited to say, thanks to Eustace too.
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
@Marlorena, not sure of the variety that you have but there is a pink Phygelius in my garden and it is very hard to get rid. It has suckered all over the border for several meters.
@newbie77 ..thanks.. yes they can be a nuisance, I had one years ago that did that.. but it's unlikely it'll stay here that long.. I remember seeing it popping up everywhere.. I'll probably keep it for this year and perhaps the next.. thanks though, I just love the colour for my hot dry border.. The one I had before was 'African Queen'..
Amazing Day.... a new bloom. Those already out were absolutely destroyed by the sunshine on Saturday and had to be cut off. Boule de Neige. AUSrapper... an extremely healthy rose Pope JP2 (scent vastly improved)
Thanks @Nollie I had to be sure that I am not making up the things about moss.. thank you for the update on Yolande.. Hope the second flush is as good as the first one..
@Alfie_ I was considering Wellbeing as an alternative to Lady Em, as I heard their scent is quite similar. But in the end I was able to get Lady Em herself:)
A few from my front garden today:
Kew Gardens
Munstead Wood (needs deadheading but each flower lasts for almost two weeks)
Newly identified Benjamin Britten (absolutely gorgeous colour! And doesn’t fade in full sun)
@cooldoc This is my WS2000 bought from Trevor White as a bare root Oct '22. I'm surprised this first bloom today is so red but it looks just like yours. Lovely scent if I really bury my nose, did that just now in full sun.@SalixGold Madame Isaac Pereire
