Well done @WonkyWomble what a fabulous effort. You dont fancy a trip to Wales I suppose do you? Lovely to see @Chicky again, what a brilliant holiday, hope you dont find the weather due this coming week too much of a shock. Thanks for the good wishes folks, I just need to calm down a bit, go with the flow and wait patiently for some answers. Early start this morning as daughter off to work and I'm needed for dog caring, keeping the rayburn firing and the usual domestic chores. But first tea needed.
How lovely to have had such a relaxing day @Dovefromabove (if it weren't for all the stuff that must be going round your mind at the moment). Great stuff @WonkyWomble. You are a ⭐.
Waiting for medical results is torture. I feel for you @AnnaB, I am in a similar situation, but joy of joys OH blood tests are good. What a relief, the silly monkey even withheld the news from me, because he didn't "want to boast" about his good fortune. I was very annoyed at first and gave him an earful.
Yesterday we went to an open day of an old people's home. Very luxurious, but I still found it very depressing while my friend was quite taken if it weren't for the fees 😲😂. The only positive for me was the constant temperature of 25 degrees, Bliss! And the spa.
Today will be spent doing bits and pieces around the home, no going out 🥶
Good morning all. Cold but dry here, bit cloudy but the sun is peeking through enough to make it pleasantly bright. Lizzie27, don’t be put off by the tune! We bought a Samsung washing machine over a year ago, and I’m really pleased with it! Can’t remember which model, but it doesn’t have the steam function. It does have an extra hatch in the door to add forgotten socks after the programme has started! I wouldn’t have chosen that, but that model was cheaper at the time than a similar one without the hatch. Never thought I’d use it, but I have, having put the machine on, then finding a pair of OH’s socks on their way to the laundry basket, ie the floor. The tune is quite discrete and not too loud, I hardly notice it now. I only use two programmes. There is a mixed wash which takes 1 hour and three minutes, with a choice of 30, 40 or 60C. I do virtually everything at 40C, apart from towels and bedding which gets done at 60C. There is a 15 minute quick wash which I occasionally use for freshening up anything that’s almost clean. Been very pleased with it. Sending best wishes to all suffering aches, pains and worries. I’m reading through every day to keep up with you all, but not posting much. Having a major sulk over my relatively minor ( ie non life threatening ) ailments, which have suddenly gone from a slight inconvenience and the prospect of a 13 month waiting list as just a bit of a nuisance, to not being able to lift anything, bend over, or pick anything up off the floor, without very unpleasant symptoms and the need to sit or lie down for a while. So no gardening for the foreseeable future, and feeling a bit fraudulent posting on this forum! Able to managed a decent walk each day though, and have OH to help out with the chores, so could be a lot, lot worse. And enough savings to consider private treatment if needed, so I am counting my blessings. Found the invoice for the washing machine in my emails! Hope that’s helpful,
Afternoon all, Ive got the silver/grey version of that machine @Ergates, and find the extra hatch useful at times. The music playing at the end of the cycle doesn’t last too long, and doesn’t bother me either, to be honest. The weather isn’t too bad here at the moment, it registered 9 degrees C on the car thermometer on my return journey from the coffee morning group, but the forecast predicts a colder afternoon, sub zero temps through the night and much colder tomorrow so I might just hibernate tomorrow 😂.
Thanks so much @Ergates & @Red Maple for the lowdown on the Samsung machine. I've just ordered one which will be delivered on Wednesday. Delivery is now £20 plus £40 for the unpacking, installation and disposal of old one. Eeks! But worth it as the machine is far too heavy for us to handle and lift. The only thing we can do is the disconnection bit!
I haven't done anything today. It was warmer this morning than forecast and thought I might be in with a chance of gardening but by the time I'd spent ages online researching washing machines and prices etc, then a few phone calls, the morning was gone and then it rained.
We watched a squirrel from the bedroom window sit right in front of my new sonic squirrel deterrent - and he didn't bat an eyelid. Nor did a large magpie. Also watched said squirrel climb up the outside of our front double glazed window, balancing each side of the upright to try to get at my new stick-on window robin feeder. The blighter. He kept sliding off but was very determined and came back to have another go this afternoon. Got half way up again then realized it was no longer there. Priceless look on his face. They're getting the better of me!
For @Ergates and others who can’t do the bending/kneeling/stretching needed for gardening then I hope you can still gain some joy from watching Spring unfurl. I had to have a ‘break’ once and it made me enjoy looking at the wildlife and changes of the season more. In fact just yesterday I watched a blackbird gathering bits of moss from the stones around my pond and I think it’s making a nest in my mixed shrub ‘hedge’ - same as last year 👍🏼
Take care folks, especially if icy weather comes your way.
That Samsung machine looks like mine @Lizzie27. The shop, an amazing Aladdin's cave of a shop, sells everything, in a nearby village delivered and fitted it the next day free of charge. They also took away my old machine. In France.
We've had quite a sociable day. Friends came round in the morning and afternoon.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Good evening, wow such a lot of chat over the weekend! I think I have to join the list, of people jealous of all the work that @WonkyWomble has done for her mum. I obviously have it all wrong as I end up doing the gardening when I visit OH'S daughters. To be fair the older one would love to do more if she had the time. @Lizzie27, I had to chase a rat out of one of our feeder cages, it was there in broad daylight, so I spent Saturday afternoon clearing up any potential hiding places down behind the shed, and I removed the feeder, that it had got into. When the current batch of feed runs out I will have to stop putting any feed out for a while. 😡

Where is that care home @coccinella?
