Afternoon all.  Glad the storm missed you @PatE.  Welcome home @chicky - your holiday sounds as if it was amazing.
Hope the scans go OK @anna.kasperT_R_-P_s
@WonkyWomble - what a star you are! Hope the shoulder doesn't play you up later.

Lovely time at the clay workshop this morning.  We painted the things we made last week and covered them in glaze and they are off to the kiln today.  Can't wait to see them next week!  Caught up on g'daughter news - one of them has got into the college or her choice for her A levels, the other has got through the 3rd round of the process to intern at the BBC. Fingers crossed as she would love to do a 2 year internship there before going to uni.

I'm now doing a spot of beading with my feet up.

Afternoon folks, same old weather, cold and dreary. Our washing machine broke down this morning so I've got the unenviable task of researching which new one I want to buy. Apparently most of the new ones have something called a 'steam' function to kill off any allergy producing bugs, funny, I thought a hot wash usually did that. One machine actually plays a tune when it's done so that's a definite no-no. it also seems that most programmes are now twice as long, 3hrs 3.37 mins anyone? That's just ridiculous, how is that energy efficient? Any recommendations please folks?

After I'd put the washing back in the basket, I thought I'd get my labelling machine out and print some labels for the various hellebores I've got. Guess what, the tape ran out!
Definitely one of those days, I want to go back to bed.

Delighted to see @chicky back. Sounds a smashing holiday in Barbados, deep envy here.

Hope @AnnaB gets sorted. Try not to worry too much about the appointment, things are never as worse as feared.

Forgot to mention that we met a lady from Brussels at the party yesterday who was bemoaning the price of their fuel and telling us that their food prices had tripled and ours were much cheaper. We were quite surprised. It had also cost £400 to bring the car over, crumbs. Perhaps it's not so bad living over here after all.

Welcome back @chicky. It sounds as though you had a great holiday.

@Lizzie27 my Bosch machine broke down last year. It was pretty old. I couldn't find another one in stock to be delivered quickly. I bought a Samsung and I'm pleased with it. It does play a tune, quite pleasant and a lot better than the Bosch's maddening beeping. You can change the length of spin and water temperatures which make the programmes shorter. The programmes I use are about 1 1/2 hrs or the quick 15 min. It doesn't have a steam function and it wasn't expensive.

And I fixed the panes from falling out of the cold frame roof! But I have to say the bacon butties were worth it!!
Have dinner to fix so no time to read back so I'm have to catch up later, but best wishes to all and have a cozy evening 😊

Evening everyone,  Welcome back @chicky Sounds like you had a fantastic holiday, don't think you will enjoy the coming week it's meant to be freezing.
Well done @WonkyWomble neither of my two have any real interest in gardening so it's all down to me.

Day's done.  The sun is long over the yard arm.

I hope your Sunday was  warm and loving @Dovefromabove  Sounds like @WonkyWomble had the right medicine!!  You both deserve the love and attention.  (Did the OHs tidy up after lunch?).  Courage and patient to attack tomorrow and the rest off the week.

@chicky   Wow  Barbados for a month!!  Total relaxtion and chill out!!
@AnnaB  I am glad your blood tests were good.  For the scans - it's good the drs are looking after you.  I hope your breathing improves.
@didyw  I used to do potting and loved it - unfortunately that's all just a dream now.  I still have a couple of pots I made.  A lovely past time to make some useful out of a lump of clay.
@Pat E  Glad the storm passed over .... where exactly are you on your map in relation to Canberra?

Nice French film on tonight on the One channel with Miou Miou and Alexandra Lamy.  Relaxing and enjoying the evening as I hope you all are.

    Evening everyone.

    Good work there @WonkyWomble 👏🏼

Welcome home @chicky - were you celebrating an occasion or just treating yourselves 🏖?

I’n sure you’ll find a suitable replacement @Lizzie27 but the tech in machines seems to move on so much in even 5 years. My dishwasher ‘eco’ mode is quite long but runs less hot and with less water (apparently) so I trust they’ve ‘worked it out’ to be less energy consuming that way. The vogue atm is to wash clothes at 30 degrees or less but I wouldn’t put undies or shirts on less than 40.

Take care all, especially those with worries.

Thanks @Busy-Lizzie and @AuntyRach. I had looked at the Samsung one but the 'music' function put me off a bit.
    I'll have another look tomorrow.

Great effort @WonkyWomble - rather wish my daughter lived nearer!

    Good morning all 😊 ☕️
We’ve got frost out there … glad we put the frost thingummy over the car windscreen. There’s even a threat of some ‘wintry precipitation’ but only early on and we’ll be travelling south away from it.
@tui Wonky’s lovely hub didn’t come with her as he went to see his own lovely mum who’s 90ish and getting a bit frail now, and he also runs his own IT business at the weekends … but yes, my OH attended to kitchen duties … and it was he who made the bacon baps … I did nothing except wander around the garden with Wonky pointing at things … the rest of the time I was knitting. 😊
