Good afternoon, it's supposed to be a much brighter and better day today it started OK but has deteriorated to cloudy and drizzly. Good to hear of steady progress @Dovefromabove and @WonkyWomble and fingers crossed that the op is finally happening @Busy-Lizzie.
Afternoon folks. Quite chilly this morning during our usual walk to papershop where I bought a Thank You card as my lovely doctor is resigning from our local practice which is a big blow, she's been my doctor for over ten years and we always got on well. Much prefer female doctors although I'm scheduled for a telephone consultation with a male doctor in early March.
The nursery has delivered my 600 litres of bark mulch unexpectedly early today so that's a job waiting to be done when I feel in the mood, which isn't today. Feel rather tired and breathless, starting to wonder if I had Covid not a normal cold after all.
Do hope @Busy-Lizzie's OH has had his op after all this time and that Dove's son is recovering from the skin graft procedures today. I'm not sure how they do that these days. When my daughter was a child, the medics wanted to to remove a large mole on her ear and replace it with a skin graft but it meant six weeks in hospital flat on her back so we said no. Decided she could make her own decision about that when she was older. I expect like much else, procedures have moved on a lot these days.
For once I'm glad that my side of the family all have 'substantial thighs' ... the doctors said there's plenty of source material for the grafts. But of course, those will be fresh wounds, so they will be painful too.
I've been contacted by my son's work colleagues. They've asked whether I mind if they set up a GoFundMe page to replace the instruments, equipment, car etc that son has lost in the explosion so that he'll have less to worry about and is able to get back to some semblance of normality and independence as soon as he is ready. I've given them a very grateful go-ahead ... what a wonderful team he is part of.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
That's a lovely idea Dove, and very thoughtful of his colleagues.
You and I are then both of the substantial thighs stature, nice to know they might be good for something other than the bane of my life! Runs in my family too, but only the females.
We watched The Piano last night @Allotment Boy - that girl was amazing!
So glad that Punkdoc is of a help to you @Dovefromabove. The Go Fund me idea is wonderful - such thoughtful colleagues. Do let me (or indeed us) know when it is up.
Fingers crossed for good news from @Busy-Lizzie later.
I've been hunched over a hot laptop all day - just going to watch some rubbish on telly now with a cup of tea.
Hello. I have kept away for a couple of days, had a check up at the hospital and the news is so so. I was a bit down but chatted a lot with friends which helped. I just have to accept that I have this illness and that the doctors are there doing their best. Talking of doctors a friend lost her GP of 28 years. He worked until the last, very moving and he was only 62.
So, I am now on alternate days of Euthyrox: 125 and 150; was also given betablockers to keep palpitations at bay. I am a bit scared of taking such a high dosage but heyho. Here it is. Dove and Wonky I am glad that Dovelet (don't tell him that!) is a bit better.
Give us the crowdfunding page, privately if you like. I have a son who is a (part time) musician. Some years ago he got Guillaine Barré syndrome and he was terrified that he wouldn't be able to play guitar anymore as for 4 terrible days he could not move at all. Fortunately all went well. Thank Heavens for the neurologist there who knew what to do immediately, a lovely Spanish lady, Thank you Dr De Diego!
I am shaken but not beaten. Never mind the torpedoes eh?
@coccinella thank you for your kindness. I'm sorry to hear that you've been torpedoed.... Your not sunk though! And like you say the doctors and nurses that look after us and our loved ones and incredible people and help us overcome what's thrown at us. So pleased the outcome was a good one for your son 😊
OH has a new hip! He was a bit groggy but well enough for them to give him a coffee when he rang me at 5pm. I had rung the ward twice earlier but he was in theatre then recovery. My stomach was churning all day. What made it worse that our good friend in France, the one who introduced us years ago, died this afternoon. She has been in hospital since Christmas, pancreatic cancer. Anyway, thank goodness OH is OK.
What a lovely thing to set up for your son by his colleagues @Dovefromabove.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Pleased to hear that the op has gone well, @Busy-Lizzie, though sorry to read about your friend. Hope the meds will help @coccinella. Thats kind of your sons friends to want and help in that way @Dovefromabove.
